Say they were to have a press conference tomorrow at the Cell (I know they're not typically announced at a press conference, but it doesn't mean KW can't hold one). If there was a press conference, maybe it's workers there trying to connect the dots??

If there was a press conference scheduled at USCF tomorrow, wouldn't the press know about it?

Could be. But I'm sure at least some people who work at the Cell read either this board, WSI or both. So it's no surprise that this rumor would be "swirling" around the ballpark after all the posts on the two message boards today.

One thing halfway decent lawyers are good it is dragging things out. AJ is making $6 million this year. If he had a positive PED test, there is no way at his age he will get anything close to that rate during his next contract. If he tested positive 2 weeks ago like what is being claimed, his people could stretch this out until the offseason and he'll get paid plus perhaps make some playoff money.

If lawyers could stretch this out, you'd think Melky would have done so.

I'd be more shocked if he wasn't on something. Or maybe he's just lucky to be having a career year at 35 during a contract season.

They did stretch it out, and it ran to where it will be over 5 games after the regular season. Melky was also making $6 million, is 28 and people still think he may be able to get $10 million a year, so it would be more advantageous financially for Melky to serve his suspension this season. For AJ, if there is any truth to it, it would be the opposite.

Konerko was having a career year this season before he was beaned, hurt his wrist, and elbowed in the head.

And Konerko was averaging 35HR a year the past two seasons. So for him to go on the same rise as AJ, he'd have to hit 105HR this season.

Who thinks he still may get $10M a year? No shock that the Giants went from trying to sign Melky to breaking off talks and trading for another OF after the ASB.

It's only September and FA signings usually dont start happening until the winter meetings. You really think lawyers would be able to stretch this out for another 3-4 months at the very minimum?

They have to stretch it out about 4 weeks.

Many of the hosts have hinted at it recently.

Actually B&B very briefly mentioned that they are hearing things but it's so loose that they don't know what to do with it and didn't find it worth talking about.
