December 8, 201213 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) If this were the case Hahn must really not like his current manager who is far more anti-numbers than Guillen. You cannot be serious... Even if that was the case and Hahn wants to hire somebody else, why hire Ozzie Guillen when there are many managers out there who favor numbers far more than Guillen? December 8, 201213 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) I don't know that it's any better or worse than other people's "sourced" information. Anyway, most of the stuff that gets discussed never happens, does that mean you have a bad source? No, but for example: I'm an Arizona Cardinals fan (I know, insert joke/comment) and I asked the scouting friend about a QB that I want the Cards to draft next year. He just so happened to be working the guy out the following week. He texted me, the guy has issues and is not the answer. That doesn't necessarily mean he's right. The guy may turn out to be great but it seems like this is much more credible source than using Chuck, serving beers at the local bar saying I watched the guy and I don't think he's any good, as a source.

I don't care if posters on this board question my information. I do find it interesting that I'm being held to a higher standard than other folks around here.

You can't tell me that Ventura managed anywhere close to "sabrmetrically" last year.

I don't see other posters doing that.
December 8, 201213 yr Well here is some information I received this morning. This was a direct message so its not on his twitter page. "The White Sox were in on him. But I heard yesterday late afternoon that he decided on the Reds." Darren Wolfson on Jack Hannahan. Edited December 8, 201213 yr by Baron

December 8, 201213 yr Alright already, enough with the arguing of legitimacy of "sources". Believe it or don't, lets not spend pages of this thread discussing who is and who isn't valid. Nobody knows either way.
December 9, 201213 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) What was the rumor that started this discussion I believe Marty said the Sox are trying to acquire prospects in order to make a play for Upton
December 9, 201213 yr Hopefully we should start seeing something in a week or so, now that the "first domino" has fallen tonight.

Did somebody say, 'hire Ozzie Guillen?' Is there hope?
December 9, 201213 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) Did somebody say, 'hire Ozzie Guillen?' Is there hope? Hope? Yeah, there's hope. I hope he never sets foot in the Cell until 2025 when we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the WS championship. Other than that, I don't want him being any part of the Sox organization. That ship has sailed ... and sunk.
December 9, 201213 yr Hahn just needs to sign Michael Bourn, and trade De Aza + Floyd for a 3B already. I don't know what he's waiting for.

Bourn is going to get Rios-like money. Do you really want to pay a guy who is extremely dependent on speed and is getting towards 30 Rios-like money? I don't.
December 9, 201213 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) Bourn is going to get Rios-like money. Do you really want to pay a guy who is extremely dependent on speed and is getting towards 30 Rios-like money? I don't. Absolutely, I do. Speed, defense, XBH, averages 5 WAR a season. 4 yrs/$50M, sign me up. He'll get more than that, though. Edited December 9, 201213 yr by JoeCoolMan24
December 9, 201213 yr We already have a Michael Bourn, his name is DeAza and we are paying him much less. He is also a year younger.

You might get 2 more good seasons out of him before he gets into Juan Pierre territory. Edited December 9, 201213 yr by chw42
December 9, 201213 yr The only thing Bourn does better than de Aza is steal bases. He is probably a better center fielder, with more range, but doesn't de Aza have a better arm? Even so, that is not a significant upgrade, especially for the money. The Sox better put that money to better use, like another right handed starter, and a left handed power bat with a high OBP. Doesn't Hamilton make a lot more sense at $25 Million than Bourn at $16 Million? Edited December 9, 201213 yr by Lillian

Doesn't Hamilton make a lot more sense at $25 Million than Bourn at $16 Million? You guys need to stop looking at it as a a bourn de aza thing. We would be getting a similar centerfielder/leadoff while using our current one to possibly upgrade 3rd base. which does improve the team. Plus hopefully it is only another year our two until walker is ready to take over centerfield/leadoff.
