2013-2014 NFL Thread

Considering they were unlikely to turn either of those into a decent QB, you can't be too upset about it. That team needs a serviceable QB

That is absurd. The absolute most I would have given up would have been one 3rd round pick, not two 2nd round picks

Especially with that being the first 2nd round pick.

I'm not even sure Smith is serviceable. He is in the same category as Matt Cassel.

A serviceable QB will get you no place in the NFL.

Isn't Smith expensive too? s***, I'd rather trade for Matt Flynn.

7.5 per year. Two more years.

I'd rather draft Geno/Barkley/Wilson/Nassib/McClendon and take a shot that I can develop them. Jonathan Baldwin is going to be his #1 receiver.

I understand Smith as a placeholder for a year or two while letting those guys develop, but you are essentially stating that Alex Smith is the QB of the future in KC. That is just awful.

The last QB the Chiefs drafted to win a game for KC was Todd Blackledge. In 1987.

This also gives the 49ers 94 draft picks this year. Which I'm sure they will trade for Revis or Harvin.

Thanks KC!

The 49ers are the best run franchise in the NFL right now... they went 11-4-1 last year and made the Superbowl. They now have 5 draft selections in the top 93 picks. The Chiefs, on the other hand, went 2-14 and will pick just twice in the top 95.

I feel like this is common with longtime coaches second stints. There is an impatience with rebuilding and a short term plug-gap mentality.

I'm pissed. I would be fine with Smith for a 3rd, but for what the KC gave up it absolutely astounds me. Just awful. New regime and it looks like the same astoundingly stupid roster moves. Alex Smith for the #34 overall pick? Plus a pick next year? Are you kidding. KC really could have used that pick for a WR this year.

The way it is being reported you would think this guy got caught with 10 kilos of china white, not a little weed.

Both Te'o and another potential draft prospect at the combine are saying that teams are asking about whether those players are gay in their combine interviews.

If it's being asked, it would appear to directly violate NFL-imposed discrimination rules and possibly state laws in the handful of states where it's actually not legal to fire someone for being gay. The NFLPA has issued a statement and the league seems to be saying they'll investigate.

Where? You need more than an Oz to get arrested in Chicago.

Somewhere in Pulaski County...Reports said he had a "small amount" so I guess it's too bad he wasn't in the city.

You dont need to have more than an for O even a felony to be charged. I believe that the police optionally can issue a ticket. Also you can be charged with distribution for having an amount vastly less than an oz if you have it in separate bags etc.

They are all just money makers, it just so they can force him to plead it down at a huge fine.

Alex Smith has played in 30 games where the opponent scored 24 or more points. In them, he's 2-27-1.
