s***, I wouldn't mind. Relievers find it and lose it all the time. Brad Lidge's ERAs progressively went from 5.28 to 3.36 to 1.95 to 7.21 to 2.96 to 1.40 to 9.64. Marmol has trouble throwing strikes, but the stuff is still there.

The remainder of the $9.8 million he's owed this year make a trade or claim pointless. Once he's released if you can sign him up and let him work out the kinks in a lost year with Coop, I guess he might maybe be worth a look at. However, I'm sure a lot of teams would take a chance on that heat at a much, much smaller salary.

Oh yeah, no, claiming the remainder is stupid. There's no way in hell I'd do that. I'd rather give that money to Adam Dunn.

But once he clears and is released, yeah, if he is an outright free agent and he doesn't want to move, I have no problem with the Sox picking him up. I mean, who are they going to give the innings to, Omogrosso? Heath?

He was still really effective vs left hand hitters, if he gets cut outright then sign me up.

Cubs at least taking the trash out. Sox need to do a little housecleaning soon.

Can we stop having penis envy of a team that hasn't won a thing in 108 years?

Post of the week. I know the first post was a joke but I can't believe anyone here would seriously think Coop will fix Marmol. I think Coop has lost his magic wand or some of these guys are just really, really bad. He couldn't fix the former Twins dude last year. Danks and Floyd are not a testament to Coop's greatness.

And Liriano's doing just swell this season with the Pirates, who are currently 17 games over .500 and having their best season in over 20 years.

I'm saying there's absolutely no harm in bringing him in on a minimum deal. The dude can still throw. If he can control it to any extent, he's damn near unhittable.

He'll be at the point where he can basically decide where he wants to sign after he clears waivers right? Sure I'd give him an offer and send Omogrosso down to do it, no guarantee he'll want to pitch for us though.

If 2013 is dead, the last guy we are bringing in is Carlos Marmol.

Why's that? Do you think a competitive team would actually give him a roster spot?

Really, he's only 30 this year and he could realistically be effective for the next 5 years. There's no harm in trying to see if there's anything left.

But you wouldn't have team control over him for five years. Realistically you'd sign him to a deal to finish out this season. At that point, if you are successful, he gets expensive and leaves. If he isn't, he sucks and goes away. There is no net gain for the Sox at this point in the year.

I can think of one possibility off of the top of my head.

Come on man, actually say it. Do you mean the Tigers? Please stop toying with me.

Yes. Detroit.

So try to attach an option. He's not going to get anything more than 1-year deal next year anyways. If you sign him to the pro-rated min this year and you can sign him for $3 mill next year, it's worth it, and I think that's perfect logical.

An option makes it worthwhile, because then you have a tradeable asset if he does succeed.

cubs suck.

This proves my theory that if you want to look like a better pitcher, go pitch in the NL.

Feldman and Clevenger to Orioles for Arietta and Strop.

Hell of a return on their investment in Feldman. Cubs with a great trade
