Nats have 24 hits already in this series.

And isn't that with not doing much of anything in the first 3 innings of both games?

The Cubs are more fun than the Sox. That's the deal, we get the wins (big disparity over last whatever amount of years)

they have the fun

Alright Im done here

These Nats are for real.

Not like we are getting beat by the Bad News Bears here.

Def have tighten up the D & get Paulie clicking tho.

Sox are allergic to drawing walks. Averaging 1.63 a game right now, and a big reason for the worst OBP in the AL.

Doesnt help when you have kings of strikeouts in the lineup either.

Santiago now in...not sure who the long man is tomorrow if Axelrod struggles

It's crazy how we discuss all the minutiae of every single aspect of the Sox roster.......but honestly if everyone performs to career norms and Paulie is totally done (which is very possible at 37 coming off bad months last year)......then this whole thing is probably moot and you can ship 2013, basically

You don't think the Sox front office doesn't realize this? This is definitely not an "All In" season. This roster isn't far away from having an offense where Dunn/Rios/Ramirez are the experienced players and Peavy/Danks is the lone guy in the rotation with more than a few years of experience.

Santiago looked awesome

Yeah, I think most of us agree this team is not exactly close to being able to compete with elite teams like Washington -- unless our pitching and defense clicks so amazingly well that we dominate. No signs of the pitching being elite yet. I kind of expect .500 with an upside of 8 over 500. Would be disappointed if we finish 10-15 below.

The shame will be doing nothing with Rios' career renaissance....but we just have to tread water and hold the fort down.

1) Make determinations on Beckham and Flowers for the future.

2) See if Viciedo progresses.

3) See how many of the bullpen arms can be counted on, and that's always hit or miss (see Veal's disappointing start).

4) Mostly...wait on Sanchez, Thompson, Walker, Mitchell and Hawkins, maybe DiMichele.

5) Develop at least one more starting pitcher

6) Get back the old John Danks (crosses fingers)

He just pitched last inning. No doubt in my mind he could be a #3 starter next year for this team if he got experience in the rotation this season.

It's seemed they've consistently utilized this guy in the wrong way since April, 2012.

Puzzling. Cooper loves the guy and his make-up, and has always been in his corner. Seems like there's just so much reluctance to commit to him being a full-time starter, though.

Within the organization, there has to be concern about Quintana's future and whether he'll end up as a "one year wonder."

And nobody knows exactly what will happen with Danks, either.

Hopefully Peavy's just going through a dead arm period and can get a little more juice on his fastball.

I don't know anyone who expected him to repeat his April-July performance from last year, but he can't pitch more like 4/5 guy if they hope to compete.

At least his first start was good. There's that.

Win two.

Lose two

Win two

Lose two

I don't think the LV odds of winning two in a row behind Axelrod and Quintana are too high at the moment.

Of course, Axelrod was great last time out...which, of course means as soon as you start expecting it from him consistently he'll have an atrocious outing.

Right now I am more worried about Veal being a one year wonder.

#4. Waiting on Walker, Thompson, and Mitchell...... will be a very long wait.
