Keppinger was signed to play 3B/2B. Gillaspie was brought in to play 3B/1B. Beckham getting hurt changed that.

The logic of projecting full time stats for a part time player was the flawed logic

The strategy is to rebuild on the fly. This strategy only works if you either tradeable assets and/or a decent minor league.

 

I say the strategy this season was more "maintain". I think we'll see more of a rebuild next year and then start to add more pieces with more money coming off the books.
