Cahill makes a lot more sense than Beckett at this exact point in both their respective careers.

 

Of course, the problem isn't just pitching now, it's offense/defense/fundamentals again (see 2013, rinse and repeat).

This is the type of guy that you can (from a Sox perspective) deal Q for. Get Gausman, sign Shields, and draft Hoffman or Rodon and you have a rotation with excellent stuff.

Unfortunately, the Sox still do not have the luxury of trading minor league talent for a veteran starting pitcher. Hahn's mission over the next 2 to 3 years is to quickly build up a strong young core of players and make the system deep. This is priority #1.

 

I truly believe that Hahn will begin selling some of the veteran players as early as June this season. I expect guys like Beckham and Dunn dealt sooner than later. We obviously won't get much for Dunn, but I'm hoping Hahn will find a desperate team for Beckham. Hahn may want to consider selling high on Viciedo as well. I expect Hahn to be aggressive this Summer, but not in regards to adding veterans, but to simply add more youth.

If Hahn can find a cost controlled young RHP and flip some of the excess from this team, then the Sox should be buyers. My post about JS was tongue in cheek, but I think Hahn should be looking, regardless

What have been the reports on Hanson at Charlotte in terms of stuff/velocity?

 

Seems his last start was a pretty rough one.

 

For now, Rienzo and Carroll seem to be holding their own. The bigger concern is back to Danks again. We already know what we have in Andre, but it will be interesting to see if Carroll can get on a bit of a mini-roll or if he ends up more like Axelrod. Will be rooting for him, as it's a great story.
