MLB just announced that Jose Abreu was not only the AL Rookie of the Month, but AL Player of the Month as well. #WhiteSox

Early vote for Rookie of the Year and AL MVP in my opinion....

@ckamka 10m

Jose Abreu is first #WhiteSox player to win AL Player of the Month since Magglio Ordonez in July 2003

Abreu is the first American League player ever to receive both honors in his first month in the majors. #SoxPride

Abreu set major-league rookie records in home runs, RBI, extra-base hits and total bases through April.

In short, Jose Abreu is awesome and everyone knows it

That's good right? I mean it's not Anthony Rizzo good, but we can be proud of something like that right?

nice. do players get anything for winning or is it what it is, just an announcement?

HES NOTHING LIKE ME!!!!

Balls are juiced! I'm tellin' ya!

He definitely deserved the AL ROTM over Tanaka.

I'm not sure about Player of the Month though. Abreu was 12th in the AL in wRC+, behind both Adam Dunn and Dayan Viciedo.

Black ink though

He's on the team for next year!

Has he been keeping this up, or has it been limited to the nonsense in Colorado (hopefully)?

I'm somewhat surprised he won Rookie of the Month.

I'm SHOCKED he won Player of the Month.

Statistically, he didn't deserve either. But the voters have never let statistics get in their way before. Congrats, Yogi!

Some excitement like this is good for baseball.
