December 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:11 AM) The question now is: Danks or Viciedo? I'll go with Tank being moved next and I'll steal Dick Allen's idea and say to the Marlins.
December 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 04:41 AM) I don't know if I'm getting anxious or nervous but I'd sign Aoki and Bonifacio to short term contracts and call it a yr. Hahn could still play around with DanknTank for possible trades keeping in mind we'd need another starter if he trades Danks. Best case Aoki becomes a 4th outfielder (if Hahn finds a better fit) but he's a ton better than Tank an would be a great #2 in the order. Bonifacio could spell Gilli an play some 2nd base as well as the outfield. I know theres still plenty of time but..... i would go for Bonifacio in a heartbeat. ref to Danks and Tank, trade Tank for any comp pick and call it even.

Yep, guess I jumped the gun but I'd still love to see Bonifacio. I thought we were outa money...lol guess ole KW did some smooth talkin to JR. Not a fan of Melky's but he fits an he's the best bat out there. This teams lookin pretty good
December 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) I didn't realize that Bryce Harper filed a grievance with the union in order to void terms the final year of his contract, the 2015 season. (Typical Boras douche move) I would be all about bringing him to the Sox for this season if things have gotten past the point of repair with Rizzo. f*** it, go for it The price starts with a guy like Quintana. The Nats won't be looking for prospects.
December 14, 201411 yr Besides adding another cheap reliever (Axford, Bell, Michael Roth), starter (Chen, McGowan), or bench (Ichiro), I'm BEYOND happy with this offseason Hope our Opening Day team looks like this: Line-up: 1. Eaton, CF 2. Melky, LF 3. Abreu, 1B 4. LaRoche, DH 5. Garcia, RF 6. Gillaspie, 3B 7. Ramirez, SS 8. Flowers, C 9. Johnson, 2B Bench: Viciedo, Nieto, Sanchez, FA OFer Rotation: Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Danks, Noesi 'Pen: Robertson, Duke, Jennings, Webb, Petricka, Rodon, Guerra, Putnam Edited December 14, 201411 yr by ChiSoxJon
December 14, 201411 yr Nieto is in the minors--so is Rodon. Putnam is the setup guy. I think they'll go with Johnson at 2B, and Sanchez will go back to Charlotte. After Viciedo is dumped, they probably have Shuck/Danks, Leury, and Brantly on the bench. Stuff will change. Edited December 14, 201411 yr by flavum

This teams lookin pretty good Bonifacio would be a perfect final addition to the lineup I feel. Incredibly versatile and brings at least average defense at 2B, 3B, and across the outfield. Most importantly he hits LHP well (and was a beast vs. lefties last year with a 170 wRC+). He'd bring some much needed speed and base running ability to the party also. Would be a good option to platoon with Gillaspie at 3B. I think it's very important to make sure Gillaspie is not being relied upon as the everyday 3B. He's so bad against lefties.

December 14, 201411 yr I would love if they traded Viciedo and Danks and used that money for Bonifacio and a guy like Morrow/Beachy/Medlan

December 14, 201411 yr It's going to be great entering spring training with a 25-man roster that's set barring an injury. Spring training competition is overrated. It just means you have holes.
December 14, 201411 yr I would say the roster as of now is: OF: Eaton, AGarcia, Cabrera, Danks, Viciedo IF: Sanchez, Ramirez, Gillaspie, Saladino 1B/DH: Abreu, LaRoche C: Flowers, Brantly SP: Sale, Samardizja, Quintana, Noesi, Danks RP: Robertson, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Guerra, Webb, Jennings Moving Viciedo and replacing him with a good utility guy and possibly moving Danks are really the only moves left.

December 14, 201411 yr If you have to field a team on today's 40-man, including Cabrera: Lineup- Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, LaRoche, Garcia, Gillaspie, Ramirez, Flowers, Sanchez (Johnson currently non-roster invite) Bench- Leury, Danks, Viciedo, Brantly Rotation- Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Danks, Noesi Bullpen- Guerra, Jennings, Webb, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Robertson

Looks pretty good to me. Moving Viciedo an signing Bonifacio would be my hope. We've also got some pretty good bullpen arms in the minors that could be very helpful. Moving Danks would be nice but we'd need to find a replacement for him. I'm pretty happy with Hahn right now.
December 14, 201411 yr Never thought I would see the day where Beckham would be an ideal bench guy on this team. He can play 2b and SS and hits lefties well

December 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) He really doesn't hit lefties that well. He hits nobody well.
December 14, 201411 yr There has been very little talked about the catcher they picked up from Marlins. What happens to Nieto, after spending a full year with the major league team they send him down to minors? Does he have to clear waivers?
December 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) He really doesn't hit lefties that well. I'm still all for adding him for piss cheap if we don't grab some significant bench players

What happens to Nieto, after spending a full year with the major league team they send him down to minors? Does he have to clear waivers? He's got options so he'll be in the minors.
