January 12, 201511 yr Great team mate and could hit that ball a mile. I figured he meant it when he said he would retire but I think he could have still hit 25-35 homers , walked a lot, but only hit like .220 or so. Anyway good luck to Adam Dunn in his future endeavors
January 12, 201511 yr By all accounts, just a top notch guy. I still remember the day we signed Biggen'. I was so pumped that I watched youtube videos of him hitting moon shots for about an hour. It sure didn't work out for the SOX, but I wish the big man nothing but the best.

January 12, 201511 yr I have respect for Adam and wish him the best, but if he didn't stay in shape when he was a star player under contract, why would he after he retires?

He was still a perfectly acceptable option against right handed pitching, but I think he has other investment ventures he wants to spend more time with, plus he has a family too. He's done all he wants to and I don't think he necessarily enjoyed the past couple of years. This is better for him.

January 13, 201511 yr Adam Dunn is in no way, shape, or form a Hall of Famer. He will likely be on the ballot because he hit a lot of home runs, but if he gets more than 1 or 2 votes, I'd be incredibly surprised.
January 13, 201511 yr While he didn't live up to expectations, he never made excuses and handled his shortcomings very well and I respect him for that. I wish him well in retirement.
