Yes the new rules helped them as well but they did a good job of getting him signed quickly. As we saw with the Astros, things can still unravel.

I try not to eat up the makeup part of the ball game but all offseason Hahn was saying, "this guy is high character" and "this guy is great in the clubhouse." Our bench is full of leadership. Beckham, Bonifacio and Soto are all great teammates. First ones out of the dugouts on big hits, always hyped in the pregame, etc. It's not tangible but it definitely doesn't hurt.

By far the biggest leaders by example are Abreu and Sale with Laroche coming on however there are many others that are vocal like Soto, Shark, Beckham and Eaton.

 

Abreu is the guy the team looks to for leadership, work ethic and production. He's taken over that clubhouse once Paulie was gone.

If not for the new rules Sox minor leagues would still be ranked 30th.

It's amazing how many great ABs we have in one inning and the rest of the game the offense doesn't do much at all (not saying it will be like that all game but it seems like it has happened a lot this year)

Thats incredible at his age. He will have some bad starts where he cant find it, but when its on hes filthy.

They would have passed on guys like him years ago because of his agent and demands to be in the majors and overall contract. Chris Sale's success and a change of philosophy with Hahn changed that recently.

Nice swing there. Not the location he wanted but I like him going after these guys. Forget about the homer and be aggressive.

That was inevitable in more ways than one. It being Phegley, and Rodon having a 0.0% HR/FB rate.

Even Josh Phegley can hit that fastball out over the plate. Oh well, learn from it.
