Putnam is not a fastball pitcher and Flowers called for a high one when he has been throwing splitters the whole time which nobody was touching. It was stupid.

I don't listen to the radio broadcasts much but does Farmer always rip Sox players? He was making fun of Alexei earlier and then Flowers' pitch calling

Don't get me wrong, Flowers sucks and I would love to play a catcher that was hitting over .200 and/or able to throw out even a single runner in his place... problem is, those are scarce resources in high demand.

He's striking out way more guys than last year, walking the same amount and last year his ERA was 1.98. His ERA's gonna come way down, he's just given up a fluky amount of homers.

 

As for the sign, yeah he could have shaken it off but a lot of guys don't. I don't imagine he would have shaken off the splitter, which their guys couldn't hit. I'm not gonna crucify Flowers for it, I just didn't like it.
