June 13, 201510 yr Did any previous White Sox draft picks who did not sign get drafted by other teams this year?
June 13, 201510 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) Did any previous White Sox draft picks who did not sign get drafted by other teams this year? The Sox drafted Ryan Castellanos in 2012. The Tigers took him this year. He's a late round RHP, and brother of Nick.
June 13, 201510 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) That didn't take long. Welcome to 2015. The incentive isn't to hold out anymore, it is to grab your piece of the slot money before it is gone.
June 13, 201510 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) Did any previous White Sox draft picks who did not sign get drafted by other teams this year? Choplick (spelling?) out of Oklahoma got drafted in the 16th I believe by the Rangers. Sox drafted him last year in the mid 30's.
June 13, 201510 yr well, that will add to the overall depth of the system. all that signed except for 2 were college players. i just hope the sox finds some surprise prospects.
June 13, 201510 yr Not sure if they have signed or have agreements with their top 10 picks before signing Sangri and Comito. It's interesting that they went overslot with them before reports of the top 10 pick signing came out. They also must expect Fulmer to sign for slot or less, much different than the Rodon situation last year.
June 13, 201510 yr QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Not sure if they have signed or have agreements with their top 10 picks before signing Sangri and Comito. June 13, 201510 yr And the expectation that he would be the best player and quickest riser in the draft.
June 13, 201510 yr With so many guys signing and Fulmer unable to sign due to still playing, it makes me think they have a deal in place and just can't announce it.
June 13, 201510 yr QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) With so many guys signing and Fulmer unable to sign due to still playing, it makes me think they have a deal in place and just can't announce it. Yeah that deal will likely be announced at conclusion of college world series.
June 13, 201510 yr Jackson Glines $10,000 (Under slot by $142.3K) http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/6/9/87547...ignings-tracker
June 13, 201510 yr 1 (8th): Carson Fulmer, RHP, 6-0, 195, Vanderbilt - Playing in College World Series 4 (112): Zack Erwin, LHP, 6-5, 195, Clemson 5 (142): Jordan Stephens, RHP, 6-1, 185, Rice>>>$300,000 Under slot by $80.4K 6 (172): Corey Zangari, 1B, 6-4, 240, R-R, Carl Albert HS (OK)>>>over $500,000 Overslot by at least $215,200 7 (202): Blake Hickman, RHP, 6-4, 220, Iowa 8 (232): Casey Schroeder, C, 6-1, 195, S-R, Coastal Carolina (SC) 9 (262): Ryan Hinchley, LHP, 6-3, 205, University of Illinois at Chicago (IL) 10 (292): Jackson Glines, CF, 6-0, 195, L-L, Michigan Under slot by $142.3K With the 3 picks we know about their bonus totals, we are somewhere around even for the draft. We are underslot by $222k with Stephens and Glines, but over by around the same amount for Zangari. We still have a big under slot number coming in from Hinchley and maybe Erwin. It would be huge for the Sox if they have an underslot number arranged with Fulmer as they could be allowed to make a run at some of their HS picks.
June 14, 201510 yr http://www.hawkcentral.com/story/sports/co...round/28755105/ Respected analysts, including at Baseball America and ESPN, had projected the junior to be taken on the First-Year Player Draft's opening night, somewhere in the range of No. 70 overall. Instead, Hickman was the 202nd player picked. "I hope I do (get more than slot), but if I don't ... I didn't really get into this for the money," Hickman said. "I love the game, and I'm just very happy that it's here. It's been a long three years. I've been working extremely hard for this. I won't let dollar signs stop me from my dreams." The early vibe he's gotten from the White Sox is that he'll start out as a relief pitcher.
June 14, 201510 yr Out of the 10 players still unsigned (excluding Fulmer) is there one who is particularly promising?
June 14, 201510 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) Out of the 10 players still unsigned (excluding Fulmer) is there one who is particularly promising? Hickman from Iowa. I think Stephens from Rice could be a nice bullpen arm.
June 14, 201510 yr QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) Hickman from Iowa. I think Stephens from Rice could be a nice bullpen arm. No Bryce Montes de Oca in any of our picks? I want some drama damnit!
June 14, 201510 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:46 AM) Out of the 10 players still unsigned (excluding Fulmer) is there one who is particularly promising? Out of the unsigned players, the other Hickman, Michael Hickman from Texas, is probably the only player that has potential and would be a great, but unlikely, signing.
