Detroit and Cleveland...yikes

Rangers lose. Half game behind the Sox.

Too bad about the Twins, but the Sox pretty much have to be the best AL team the rest of the season to get a wildcard.

On the plus side, that prevented the Giants from falling into a tie with the Cubs for the 2nd WC (Cubs have won four straight and now just 1 GB as SF faces its toughest stretch of the season).

Rangers had a 7-4 lead in the 7th and blew it, lost 9-7 in the 11th.

That also puts us back in a position with "just" Toronto and Baltimore between us and the Twins...and the Angels are reeling as well, only 4 1/2 games ahead of the White Sox.

That said, we probably shouldn't be betting anything but a vacation house or maybe spare garage/shed on the Sox making it.

Sox 18-10 the last 28, which is great.

Now play .600 ball the rest of the season for 86 wins.

Sounds so daunting when you put it that way :(

Lloyd McClendon should be fired tomorrow.

Just keep in mind. Never know what can happen with these teams injury wise. Still a lot of baseball left.

This is why I'm glad calmer heads prevailed when Jose got hit. Retaliation is just going to get someone on either side hurt. I don't want another situation like Quentin in '08.

Hawk was calling for retaliation. I'm glad Robin is smarter than Hawk.

1st post updated. Just a side note, we are only 4.5 GB from LAA as well

Slate for tomorrow games:

KC@TOR: Volquez v Dickey

DET@BAL: Norris v Jimenez

TB@BOS: Odorizzi v Miley

SEA@MIN: Iwakuma v Pelfrey

SF@TEX: Leake v Perez

LAA@LAD: Rasmus v Latos

Not only do the Twins get a gift from the Mariners, they also don't have to face Felix Hernandez in a 4 game series. What luck!

Wow, that's pretty crazy.

We're really fortunate the AL is rough this season.

even after recent slide still 3.5 back... need another winning streak if we are capable.

Let's face it, we caught the yankees at a tough time. They're rolling. We rolled last week. Time to get it going again.

The Angels lose in the 10th.

#1 wildcard, with a 55-49 record. .529 winning percentage paces to 85 wins.

7 head-to-head with the Angels, 6 more with the Twins.

Everyone is chasing 85, and it might go lower.

1st post updated.

We need to sweep the Rays if possible. We got KC after that in KC and we all know how that will go

Next 4 series:

LAA 55-49, 3 vs Cle, 3 vs Bal, 3 at Sox, 4 at KC

Min 54-50, 4 at Tor, 3 at Cle, 3 vs Tex, 3 vs Cle

Bal 53-51, 3 at Oak, 3 at LAA, 3 at Sea, 4 vs Oak

Tor 54-52, 4 vs Min, 3 at NY, 3 vs Oak, 3 vs NY

TB 52-54, 3 at Sox, 3 vs NYM, 2 vs Atl, 3 at Tex

Tex 51-53, 3 vs Hou, 3 at Sea, 3 at Min, 3 vs TB

Det 51-54, 3 vs KC, 3 vs Bos, 3 at KC, 3 at Hou

Sox 50-53, 3 vs TB, 3 at KC, 3 vs LAA, 3 vs Cubs

A 9-3 run wouldn't hurt right about now.

Sox need to win games, Twins to fall apart, and the Orioles to have a bad west coast trip the next two weeks.

Don't click it. Problem solved.

We need two sweeps because well likely lose 2 of 3 at least in KC

How games do they have to win to get in... 37?

I don't even know who to root for in the MN/TOR series. I suppose a split, but its painful!!
