worse loss of the year

Featured Replies

I can't think of many that were as bad...

This team does not have the leadership or confidence to know how to win... its clear over and over.

When ever they really need a win... its a choke job from the coaching staff to players.

Until they flip the staff and maybe even the front office this will never change.

Opening Day is still the worst for me.

Last Thursday was worse. All the momentum in the world came crashing down with Sale on the mound

That one was bad too but we got smoked in that one... this one we fought back and should have been able to close it out against a bad offensive team.

But instead but players and coaches trickled it down their legs.

We never had a chance that game. We blew this game twice and again in the 9th. Just piss poor play.

This one. Never getting to .500.

Not happening.

I agree, this team has too many holes, staff included.

16,459 and SoxTalk can now turn their attention back to the draft pick thread and forever wondering what new prospects we'd have acquired to get us through the last two months were it not for KW/Hahn's titanic debate leading into do-nothingness.

On the plus side, Ramirez, Eaton, Abreu and Melky have been tearing it up.

On the negative, every FA acquisition of Hahn's other than Melky and Avisail especially are struggling mightily.

Not to mention we simply don't have the coaches to elevate this team to a higher level. They're scared of actually being in the race, scared of playing so poorly they cost Ventura his job.

I still think it's Opening Day. We all had such high hopes, coming in with all the offseason moves... we were at least expecting a close game, but what was the score, 11-0 or something? Just crushed Soxtalk's spirits, more than today did

I don't think Pentecost was a guy who was going to turn the franchise around.

this was worse, by far

we lost this game due to fundamental mistakes

the sale loss was just sale getting torched, we had no chance at any point.

i dont see the comparison to be fair.

At least there would have been something to look forward to...

I guess that will have to be Johnson on the mound, but it probably won't happen until September call-ups so we'll have no clue if he's actually ready to be in the rotation next season.

Hopefully we'll see Montas again as well.

This game just cemented my hatred for Avisuck

I think we see clearly tonight that it can... in many different fashions.

I think the most painful loss of the season was when Robertson gave up that walk off homer to Josh Donaldson back in May. Tonight's loss was a combination of bad defense, poor relief pitching and stupid coaching.

No, we'll get some line about Robin pushing them to a much better record than rs/ra would suggest and that not even HoF managers could make a difference with this perpetually flawed roster, blah blah blah.

You can't coach players to improve defensively, you can't get big league hitters like LaRoche to change their approach or control the flatness of a Robertson breaking ball or call the pitches for Tyler Flowers or make decisions for 3b coaches.

Joe McEwing took the blame for that siutation. That's all he can do. Good for him.

Yep, I'm over it

I don't hate Joe McEwing... but what else is really going to say?

There were other tactical mistakes made during the game that no one will own up to.

That was a pretty bad one... our bull pen signings have not been so rock solid.

There have been so many bad losses, but yes, this is the killer. Sox won't get to .500. You are correct. The funny thing is this weekend in KC may be the final nail that most of us thought was coming last road trip. Losing 3 to KC after this homestand should catapault the Sox toward the bottom and a top five draft pick.

McEwing took ownership, but he was a clown tonight. Cost the White Sox a game. And it's the game that assures them of not contending for .500 and a wild card. The dream is dead. Thanks, Joe.

Sox have now lost eight games where they took a lead into the 7th inning or later.

Worst loss of the year was Sale in Tampa after he struck out like 14 guys.

Mark

This isn't even close to the worst loss of the year. That was 1 of the 10 or 15 games this season in which our pitchers gave up 3 or fewer runs and the offense couldn't score. Guys are hitting better now. Too little too late.

McEwing didn't really cost them the game. The next 3 guys could have popped out or struck out. It was stupid and the wrong decision but I blame Duke and Robertson more than a damn coach. Stop blaming coaches for the entire season. It's really lazy.
