Steve Stone just told us Trayce Thompson should play centerfield at the start of next season.

Been saying it all along. His athleticism alone is much more beneficial as a CF. Shift Eaton at LF. Boom.. your outfield defense just got waaaay better next season.

I can squint and see a scenario where Wieters takes a one year deal to try to go back out in 2016 looking for a home run on the free agent market. That is a pretty typical Boras tactic.

I don't know, but there are more quality 3B in baseball than there are quality C.

If you catch the ball in the bleachers it is still a home run. Samrdzija was terrible.

I'd probably go as high as ten to try to entice him. Or less with incentives. Sounds like a lot but it would just be a one year deal. I also figure they will bring Alexei back cheap and after this year they no longer pay Jeff Keppinger, which was 4.5 each year for last 3.

Arenado isn't going anywhere, but he would cost Quintana+ a good prospect or two, no thanks. Say no to Frazier, would cost too much and his performance has fallen off, plus he's not young anymore.

The Cell isn't as big a hitters park as you think, good for HR but not much else. Played middle of the pack this year for offense.

Thats what I've been saying as well. Give heyward 10/230 with opt outs at 4 and 6 or trade for the likes of Puig or near major league ready prospects like Nomar Mazara or Lewis Brinson.

 

Eaton - Thompson - Not Garcia is a vast improvement, especially if we can move melky to DH and god willing move LaRoche's dead money. A swap that comes to mind is for Papelbon; LaRoche is familiar to the nats the money is even and they could use the depth, with the rash of injuries and Zimmerman's always questionable health.

No I'm saying that the quality of our staff and lineup gave nothing to do with how hitter-friendly the park has played. The stat takes all of that out.

Earlier in the season, I advocated moving Melky from the 2 hole, to the middle of the order, at least against RHP. That thought was prompted by LaRoche's ineptitude. It seemed to me that he could replace the "black hole," which La Roche's bat represented, at clean up. I was pleasantly surprised when Robin actually did move Melky to the middle of the lineup. Cabrera provided some badly needed run production, from the left side, and had a pretty good run, in that slot.

 

Batting left handed, he put up respectable numbers: .289 .335 .421 (Season Totals)

He hit even better, from both sides while hitting 3RD: .313 .342 .497

 

I don't understand the desire to dump him. He has proven that he can be a run producer, and this team certainly needs more of that.

Back to Trayce. I love the Photog-tweeking of the catch, calling him the "Splash Brother". But beyond that, Trayce might be one of those guys who hits better in the majors than he did in minors. He won't be the first. Kind of the opposite of Avisail.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Every offseason I hear about player A or player B and how many more home runs they will hit if they play 81 games in the Cell. And it never happens.
