Hawk only doing road games

Featured Replies

Because he lives in Granger, IN and doesn't want to drive 4 hours a day 81 times.

Only the White Sox, man.

Breaking news Hawk Harrelson to cut back to 81 broadcasts in 2016 . 78 road -home opening day and two Cub home games . ( industry sources )

So odd that he chose a travel schedule. Maybe his own personal farewell tour

Only road games? That makes no sense, unless he just doesn't want to make the drive anymore.

This makes me so so happy! :)

Hopefully I'm throwing my "Hawk is Gone" party the following season.

This is really bizarre that at his age he'd want to do basically only road games. Scully for example basically only does home games and some short road trips out of L.A.

Strange.

Guess we should all get ready to usher in the Chuck Swirsky era. (I hope not though...)

Mark

Ugh terrible. Can't wait til people get what they wish for and we get f***ing Chuck Swirsky. Ugh

Granger is barely two hours away from USCF.

He should just get a driver.

It's happening!

He drives home every night too. 4 hour round trip commute.

The Swirsk won't be the replacement. He does the Bulls which can go into June.

I would sometimes wonder how long Hawk can keep up the drive he has to the ballpark. He's getting pretty old, and not living close by makes for a heck of a commute.

Staying at hotels and riding buses to ballparks is a different story, and so I can understand doing road games. He probably still loves being on the road, too. Good for Hawk.

They can't both be terrible?

If Swirsky is doing the home games, I hope he improves and starts acting like a pbp guy and not just interviewing Stone for three hours.

This is dumb. He should have just left completely. Loved Hawk but man this half season crap just makes no sense. Start with a new guy all season, not half of it.

If it were me, I would do home games, and hire a driver. Of course, Granger wouldn't be where I lived, but if I had to..........

Question is: why the f*** would you live in Granger, IN?

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD!!!! YES!!!!

Seriously though, only doing road games is weird. Why doesn't he just do home games and get a hotel room downtown?

His daughter lives there, and his grandchildren are there.

I think his daughter lives near there, and he wants to be close to the grandkids. Which is nice, but stay there, man. You're 74. Enjoy your retirement.

Now that you mention it, in Hawks shoes I would miss my home ballpark a TON. The fans cheering with you for the Sox.

I'd be willing to wager that if the Sox are competitive next year, and the ballpark is rocking, he might do a few more home games later in the season.

Glad everyone else thought it was weird that road games were easier. Couldn't he just get a hotel in Chicago for a home series? Same...kinda thing right?

Thank God.

That's...weird.
