December 3, 201510 yr Not sure who but some AL team will give that LF handed power a shot. Baltimore might be a good fit. Edited December 3, 201510 yr by BlackSox13
December 3, 201510 yr QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Not sure who but some AL team will give that LF handed power a shot. Baltimore might be a good fit. I think I'd rather have Carter or Alvarez than LaRoche. Those 2 strikeout a ton but at least I know they'll hit bombs.
December 3, 201510 yr He's a younger, cheaper, and higher upside version of LaRoche. Problem is LaRoche is immovable, so there is no spot for him on the roster.
December 3, 201510 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) I think I'd rather have Carter or Alvarez than LaRoche. Those 2 strikeout a ton but at least I know they'll hit bombs. I would too and either one would be cheaper than LaRoche. Oh well, all we can do is hope LaRoche hits better than last year because he ain't going anywhere.
December 3, 201510 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) I think I'd rather have Carter or Alvarez than LaRoche. Those 2 strikeout a ton but at least I know they'll hit bombs. Wouldnt touch Carter at all. Highest average is .239 in a season. Hit .199 last year. All he does is hit homeruns
December 3, 201510 yr If The Sox find an upgrade for 1b/dh that they really like then I don't think this last year of Laroche's deal is going to stop them from making the move. Edited December 3, 201510 yr by Rowand44
December 3, 201510 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 06:08 AM) I would take him over LaRoche all day he is another lh hitter.... 27 hrs.... for only a fraction of what he will be worth, maybe.
December 4, 201510 yr Laroche still plays a capable 1b. Those guys don't. The value of the all or nothing slugger is fading
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) Laroche still plays a capable 1b. Those guys don't. The value of the all or nothing slugger is fading If only LaRoche could play 1st and have someone else bat for him.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) Laroche still plays a capable 1b. Those guys don't. The value of the all or nothing slugger is fading and p. alvarez does not play good 1b. he is a dh kind of a player.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) havent we seen enough of the Dunn/Laroche mold? Not if the guy actually hits for power like they are supposed to. I like High K/High BB players that hit a s***load of homers. The problem is LaRoche doesn't do that and Dunn didn't hit enough homers to justify it. I'd absolutely rather have Alvarez or Carter than LaRoche because I'm fairly confident that the latter 2 will actually hit the ball out of the ballpark.

December 4, 201510 yr I think the main difference between Dunn/LaRoche/Alvarez is the age. Pedro is still under 30 and is more in his prime then either Dunn or LaRoche when we got them.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Were Dunn's 75 HRs from 2012-2013 not enough? I was probably Dunn's biggest fan on this board. He underachieved though as a whole.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) I was probably Dunn's biggest fan on this board. He underachieved though as a whole. He might have underachieved, but HR wise he was fine. Even with his ridiculously bad 2011, Dunn homered once every 20.63 plate appearances as a White Sox. Alvarez has homered once ever 21.25 plate appearances his career. Avarez does have a .018 higher OPS than Dunn had as a White Sox. I don't see the allure. If you don't like Adam Dunn, there is no reason to like Pedro Alvarez. Edited December 4, 201510 yr by Dick Allen
