The Nationals lost tonight, meaning the Sox and Cubs have the two best records in baseball.

So, stat geeks, has that ever happened, after some minimum threshold like 20 games? It didn't in 1906, since the NL second place Giants had a better record than us...

It's raining in Baltimore. Weather app says 25% chance at 7 pm EST, 45% at 8 & 30% from there. Sat night isn't good, either. Sun = horrible.

Can this mean that we will somehow be able to skip Danks again?

Fortunately the Tribune has a very recent article about them having the best records in their leagues. It was 1973. Season did not end well for either team.

So that common expression is bulls***.

Seriously, Navarro's last triple was 2012 with the Reds. He caught that day for...Mat Latos.

Also Todd Frazier hit a game tying home run with 2 outs in the top of the 9th in that game.

#WhiteSox' 16 wins in April are one short of franchise record set in 2000 (17-8), 2005 and 2006 (17-7 each).

Jose Abreu not only has a 6-game hitting streak... he now has a 4-game MULTI-hit streak. 2, 2, 2 & 2 hits this series.

Matt Albers has not allowed an earned run over his last 35.0 IP. #SoxStats ?

Brett Lawrie reached base all five times today. He's walked five times on the trip and has reached in 12 of 31 PAs.

Chris Sale (6-0) leads MLB with 6 wins

FanSided had a list of trades that all MLB teams should make.

Sox: Avi, Leury and Danish for CarGo.

I laughed when my friend read that one to me.

I agree, the Sox should definitely make that trade.

@SSS_pnoles

Teams w/ lower total position player bWAR than Adam Eaton's bWAR (2.0):

NYY

CLE

MIN

OAK

WSH

PHI

ATL

CIN

MIL

SDP

That's one-third of all teams.

Sox offense amongst all MLB:

6th least likely to strikeout

11th most likely to make contact

15th best RC+ (offensive value factoring in park & league effects)

15th best OBP

14th best batting average

17th best wOBA

18th most likely to draw a walk

20th in SLG

We're 24th in BABIP which, if you care to make that leap, could suggest we've been quite unlucky once the ball comes off our bat. Though there is not much really to go on regarding that yet.

We are unfortunately 4th least likely to hit a line drive. 7th lowest Hard%.

Probably a big factor in the low BABIP. As for the Hard%, here are the average exit velocities of all our hitters (MLB average is 89.15 mph):

Navarro: 86.40 mph

Abreu: 88.31 mph

Frazier: 89.29 mph

Lawrie: 89.35 mph

Rollins: 85.71 mph

Saladino: 84.28 mph

Melky: 91.15 mph

Avi: 93.91 mph

Jackson: 88.38 mph

Sands: 89.76 mph

Eaton: 88.48 mph

Abreu is over 3 mph down from last year. If Avi can keep lifting the ball like he has been this season and cut down a bit on the strikeouts he might actually be able to stick around if he keeps hitting the ball hard. His flyball% is up almost 45% from his career average, and it's a small sample size but his O-Swing% over the past 7 days is just 20%, leading to a 1:1 K/BB ratio. Amazing what happens when he doesn't swing at everything.

Just for fun, the pitchers:

Albers: 86.84 mph

Danks: 97.79 mph (ouch)

Duke: 81.28 mph

Jennings: 88.63 mph

Jones: 87.42 mph

Latos: 87.07 mph

Petricka: 86.05 mph

Putnam: 92.80 mph

Quintana: 89.14 mph

Robertson: 90.00 mph

Rodon: 87.13 mph

Sale: 90.66 mph

Danks is more than 10 mph up from last year. Sale is actually more than 4 mph up from last year. It's worked out so far, but I'm not sure I prefer the new "pitch to contact" Sale.
