Definitely a bigger deal to acquire Jose Fernandez imo. I wouldn't even know where to begin where we land Puig, Dodgers get Fernandez, and Miami gets prospects.

White Sox get:

RF Yaseil Puig

 

Marlins get:

SP Julio Urias

SP Jose De Leon

OF Trayce Thompson

SP Tyler Danish

OF Avisail Garcia

So you are saying the White Sox get Puig for Danish and Garcia. That would be highway robbery. Only way the Sox are getting Puig is if they give up a front line starter or give up at least one of Fullmer/Anderson + others as part of a 3 way deal which nets the Dodgers their front line starter.

Really don't think Puig will end up costing a top of the line prospect anymore.

I said I was just spit balling lol. With his recent actions, injury history, risk in the clubhouse, that's what I would offer and if they don't like it then too bad. I know that probably wouldn't get him, but just throwing some ideas out.

I don't see us getting him. Would've thought if we were, he would've been in this deal. Maybe I'm wrong but I think I heard someone say if he's dealt it's closer to ST.

He has talked repeatedly about being responsible to the rest of the board members. I'm not as confident as Dick Allen is that this is true. He has a history of criticizing JR and his budget statments and esponsibilities. I respect his opinion but he is far from impartial when it comes to opinions on JR.

The only time I really ever gave JR hell about payroll was 2009 when he held season ticket holder playoff money hostage and lowered payroll, and KW cried poor. After that he traded for Peavy and claimed Rios.

 

Here is a Tribune story from a couple of years ago showing total control, even being able to sell the team without any other shareholders consent.

I literally haven't heard one negative comment in the Chicago media about Theo's moves so far. Amazing how Trayce Thompson went from a mid-level prospect to the next sure thing. Not only that, I'm sure 90% of the Chicago media didn't even watch a Sox game in the last two months.

It's understandable. The white sox media didn't pay attention at all to the white sox after july save for trayce thompson.

 

I was listening to inside the club house, and they were talking about how terrible eaton was, but how the sox have a future in trayce and saladino. They just don't care, and people knew trayce.

 

Also, I hope Trayce has a great career and we see him on the southside again eventually.

A good person to mention, considering Semien is the same age as Trayce Thompson and the two played together at the lower levels of the minors. Semien got to Chicago for a September callup in 2013 at age 22. It took Trayce 2 more years.

 

Semien's overall line in the minors .272/.374/.465/.839

 

Trayce Thompson's .241/.319/.429/.747

 

Semien after some call-ups hit .257/.310/.405/.715 in his first full season in MLB. He'll probably improve some on that. It's tough to make a case that Trayce would ever put up a full season even that good. Thompson is a nice platoon/defensive 4th OF. As an everyday OF, that offense drags his value way down.

Love the trade, I did like all 3 prospects we traded but none of them are can't miss guys and if anything it seems like trance/Micah will be future bench guys. I also stopped crying over losing mediocre prospects after being so upset about olivo/reed for Freddy Garcia.

Right now I'll take Frazier for what we gave up instead of Heyward for $26 mil for his first 3 years with the Scrubs! So far RH has done just fine!

I'd take Heyward but to each his own, still like deal. I hated the thought of getting Frazier but at this price...can't complain. I still think it's 2017 for us for playoffs though.

Too many misses with Trout and Pujols on the roster means that Moreno has to do something more substantive because they're a middle of the road, borderline contender as currently constructed.
