May 8, 20169 yr QUOTE (flavum @ May 8, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) A's called up JB Wendelken, acquired in the Lawrie trade. Not a good debut. Machado hit a grand slam.
May 8, 20169 yr Oakland a bit premature in calling up Wendelken (to say the least). Josh Phegley was Oakland's best pitcher today. Even got a K.

May 10, 20169 yr Strasburg signs a 7 year, $175 million extension with the Nationals. Apparently during the middle of a start!
May 10, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Strasburg signs a 7 year, $175 million extension with the Nationals. Apparently during the middle of a start! Nice job Strasberg. For that injury history, that is insanity.
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Strasburg signs a 7 year, $175 million extension with the Nationals. Apparently during the middle of a start! And promptly gives up 4 runs to a Tigers team that just got swept.
May 10, 20169 yr Author Straus also gets two opt outs, and an extra million for each time he goes over 180 IP.
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Strasburg signs a 7 year, $175 million extension with the Nationals. Apparently during the middle of a start! SP free agent class after this year was already really thin, now it's really horrible. The best SP available will be... Volquez? Cashner? Iwakuma? Hill? Yuck.
May 10, 20169 yr I think Harper might get fined or suspended for this, but it's absolutely hilarious. Edited May 10, 20169 yr by chw42
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 11:41 PM) I think Harper might get fined or suspended for this, but it's absolutely hilarious. Is a guy kicked out allowed back onto the field even on a walkoff like that?
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 9, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) Is a guy kicked out allowed back onto the field even on a walkoff like that? No idea.
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 11:41 PM) I think Harper might get fined or suspended for this, but it's absolutely hilarious. He's trying to be the new face of the mlb right? Well he should get suspended for that. Cmon, so many kids are going to see that. Show some class.
May 10, 20169 yr Boston radio host wants umpire suspended for offending David Ortiz. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2016/05/09/ron-...zolak-bertrand/ I want every sports fan in New England suspended for offending the entire rest of the country.
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 10, 2016 -> 12:43 AM) Is a guy kicked out allowed back onto the field even on a walkoff like that? Isn't the game over by then?
May 10, 20169 yr Isn't the game over by then? Game is over when the batter touches home plate. Was he on the field before or after then?
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I think Harper might get fined or suspended for this, but it's absolutely hilarious. Based on my novice level lip reading ability, it looks like he might be doing a quick homage to Andrew Shaw.
May 10, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Nice job Strasberg. For that injury history, that is insanity. Nats will regret this contract. They should be saving every dime for Harper right now. He'll be worth the biggest contract in baseball.
May 10, 20169 yr Silly Question. Regarding a walk-off HR... If the run doesn't count until the batter touches all of the bases - including home plate - how can teammates leave the dugout and celebrate without being considered to be in the field of play? Guys are all over the base line, etc. The game isn't officially over, correct? Would Harper have been considered to be returning to the field illegally after being tossed? If the other players can be out there too, then he's not technically on the actual field if he's outside of the baseline?
May 10, 20169 yr I think 7 years and $175 is a great deal for the Nationals. Strasburg is very good and that's what those guys cost. He could have gotten more on the open market. Should have a front 3 of Scherzer, Strasburg, and Giolito for years to come. I'd love to pry Tanner Roark away from them.
