February 25, 201610 yr We could all forget about this if we can get Josh Reddick from the A's. He would be a great get.
February 25, 201610 yr People saying this is some awful offseason aren't dealing in reality. They made quite a few substantial improvements. That said, what is so frustrating to me is that it WAS a pretty good offseason, and they left themselves just one major hole short that would have made it a really good offseason. That makes no sense. Why go most of the way? When Fowler was obviously so affordable? That does piss me off.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Seeing Coghlan go for so cheap makes me think they're targeting someone specifically. Ethier remains the likely target, IMO Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off.
February 25, 201610 yr On the other side of the coin, if Theo is going to give Coughlan away, why would he give him to the White Sox instead of a team like Oakland? BTW, I don't think Coughlan is very good. It doesn't bother me they didn't trade for him.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off. Not based off of what Hahn said today David Kaplan @thekapman 1h1 hour ago Rick Hahn on @ESPN1000: "I fully expect that we'll make another move for 2016. But, until it happens you never know if it will get done."

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off. Could be, but I doubt that. Everything that Hahn has said is that they are still looking for an upgrade.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Seeing Coghlan go for so cheap makes me think they're targeting someone specifically. Ethier remains the likely target, IMO I am starting to think Avi has always been the number one option unless they were given a real gift of a deal for RF.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) On the other side of the coin, if Theo is going to give Coughlan away, why would he give him to the White Sox instead of a team like Oakland? BTW, I don't think Coughlan is very good. It doesn't bother me they didn't trade for him. Coghlan isn't great, but he would have easily been 4th best offensive player on the Sox last year (including Frazier)

February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) I am starting to think Avi has always been the number one option unless they were given a real gift of a deal for RF. I think he was always going to get a lot of at bats
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) Do they loose a pick? I believe this actually places us back at #28, because now Baltimore doesn't lose a pick, right?
February 25, 201610 yr Looks like Fowler is lying. No shock, always thought he was a goof William Hirsch @WilliamAHirsch 5m5 minutes ago Adam Jones said he talked to Fowler and he was excited to report to Sarasota...but OK.

But, until it happens you never know if it will get done." I guess I mean an impact move, not a Victorino type move. I fully expect some s*** move to say they did something but more speaking about a real positive WAR starter.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) I believe this actually places us back at #28, because now Baltimore doesn't lose a pick, right? Baltimore lost pick w/ Gallardo signing. Just means they don't move up in the 2nd.

February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) Coghlan isn't great, but he would have easily been 4th best offensive player on the Sox last year (including Frazier) That doesn't matter. If it did, the Sox would have been a lot better last year, and no one would have a problem with LaRoche.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) They're going to get Ethier before March 23rd. If they couldn't afford Fowler or anyone over $10M AAV, I can't see them landing him.
February 25, 201610 yr If we get an upgrade in the outfield before the start of the season, this is still a really good off season. If we don't get an OF, then this off season is confusing and wasting another year of the core. Indeed. I, as well as others in this thread, don't mind not signing Fowler in particular. Just, please, do something...
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) If they couldn't afford Fowler or anyone over $10M AAV, I can't see them landing him. Dodgers will send some money.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Technically, they didn't regain one of the picks they lost by signing other free agents. That would be true if he signed elsewhere.
February 25, 201610 yr In case anybody was interested the banner on the site say Cubs tickets for on sale 2/26. Wait til this year #letsgo
February 25, 201610 yr Author QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Baltimore lost pick w/ Gallardo signing. Just means they don't move up in the 2nd. I thought Gallardo didn't sign (failed physical). Or did they end up eventually signing him?
February 25, 201610 yr The fact that Fowler just signed for $8m and an option actually doesn't upset me as much as the 3/$33m deal that fell through did -- this choice was clearly about an opt-out. I get that Hahn didn't want to put Fowler back on the market after one season if it meant losing a prospect.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Looks like Fowler is lying. No shock, always thought he was a goof William Hirsch @WilliamAHirsch 5m5 minutes ago Adam Jones said he talked to Fowler and he was excited to report to Sarasota...but OK. Pulling a DeAndre.
February 25, 201610 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) I thought Gallardo didn't sign (failed physical). Or did they end up eventually signing him? Restructured deal; 2/22 with an option.
