March 8, 201610 yr QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) they the sox will not need him in the rotation until the month of may. plus or minus. i say, let him heal. Why do you say that? They only have one off day in April. They will need a 5th starter.
March 8, 201610 yr THE PANIC IS BACK: Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan now Change to #WhiteSox pitching plan: Erik Johnson, not Mat Latos, starting Saturday at Cubs. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 1m1 minute ago White Sox actually switched it but hadn't updated pitching chart -- Erik Johnson is facing the Cubs on Saturday, not Mat Latos. March 8, 201610 yr I'm looking at March 19th as the start of the countdown to opening day and being worried about stuff. When Sale makes his first start, they should go around the rotation three times before opening night. Hopefully the 3-19 to 4-2 period will go smoothly, and they'll be healthy and ready to roll on April 4th.

Hopefully the 3-19 to 4-2 period will go smoothly, and they'll be healthy and ready to roll on April 4th. This is what I'm thinking as well. Nice post. As long as none of them are hurt, 3 starts each should give them more than enough reps for the beginning of the season. There's no need to overuse them in exhibition games IMO.
March 8, 201610 yr QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) On the streets of London. nice sig. DFW's essays on sports are his best work IMO, where he did his clearest writing. As for Latos, anything he gives the Sox is a bonus.
March 8, 201610 yr I'm going to the game saturday so I was hoping for Fulmer. It'll be interesting to see EJ though. Better than last year when Noesi started the game I went to.
March 8, 201610 yr Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 1h1 hour ago Scottsdale, AZ Should update: Erik Johnson is pitching vs. Cubs in Mesa Saturday. Mat Latos will work back at Camelback
March 8, 201610 yr QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) This is what I'm thinking as well. Nice post. As long as none of them are hurt, 3 starts each should give them more than enough reps for the beginning of the season. There's no need to overuse them in exhibition games IMO. Three starts each is nowhere near enough work prior to beginning the season. They are currently doing "B" games and the dreaded simulated games on the side to get work in. The fewer games means less stressful innings on the arms.

Three starts + the simulated games and side sessions.

March 9, 201610 yr http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...djustments-side Looks like they are working on mechanics. Also said in article that his knee is healthy again. Edited March 9, 201610 yr by WhiteSoxLifer
March 9, 201610 yr http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/166...er-to-white-sox Those opportunities have come with Sale throwing live bullpen sessions or in Minor League games until his Cactus League debut March 19 at home against the Dodgers. Jose Quintana started his Cactus League work in a B game, and Mat Latos will make his second trip to the mound at Camelback Ranch on Saturday while Erik Johnson gets the start in Mesa against the Cubs. "Latos looks fine," said Cooper of the right-hander who threw Monday. "He's up to four innings and 60 [pitches]. He's where he needs to be. And we're doing the focused work like we were with Chris. Make it as focused practice as we can."

March 9, 201610 yr QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) to me that is all fine and dandy as long as he is ready come May. Why do you keep saying May? Who is going to be the 5th starter until May? The Sox only have one off day in April so they will be in need of a 5th starter.
March 9, 201610 yr Maybe I'm looking too far into this but with the way the Sox are handling Latos it sounds as though he is penciled into the rotation with Sale, Q and Rodon, leaving Turner/ EJ/ Danks to battle for the 5th spot.
