The clubhouse has been upgraded as a result of his absence. I think the team's attitude has been changed and it at least a part of why they are winning.

 

The time will come to spend the money though. Nobody is dumping contracts in April.

In the 8th inning they showed highlights on the scoreboard from that 120 Sports. They opened with Cubs highlights, and a very loud chorus of boos. I was very proud.

You don't hear or see much of that "Robin is a dumbass" stuff these days except of course in the gamethreads where negativity rules.

Albers(yes I know he didn't pitch today), Jones and Robertson are on some Cotts, Politte and Jenks s*** right now. And while I know they won't be this good all year, they're going to be a huge part of our success. Props to Duke as well who a lot of people wanted to run out of town after 3 appearances.

oh great this silly red herring again. RV has already made a bunch of awful decisions this year. The thing is, sometimes when you have a good team it doesn't really matter. The decision yesterday not to run Rollins on 3-2 or to have Duke face Beltre could easily have cost them the game. The decision to today to let a gassed Duke get the last out two outs in the 6th also could have backfired. However, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

 

I"m very happy the Sox appear to at least have a competitive club this year. I'm not happy that at some point RV is going to cost them a couple games. It's just how he does. His bullpen management is awful.

but the Sox are hardly an exciting team that will wow you every other play like Toronto or the Dodgers.

Navarro is doing a helluva job so far. He's ripped the ball for the most part, caught some bad breaks (and some of it just being slow and pull heavy) BABIP wise and for all the talk about what a great framer Flower is, I don't notice any drop off with Navarro.

 

Sox are catching some pixie dust right now and IT FEELS GOOD MAN. Sands, Albers, Latos -- for once, some of the lottery tickets have paid off.

the cubs man. I don't live in Chicago so I maybe have a bit more unbiased opinion (and god knows if I lived there I'd f***ing hate the Cubs hype) but they are video game good right now. Hell, you'd adjust the sliders if they were this good in a video game. Pythag pace is for 135 wins!

Navarro and Jackson are certainly playing better than their atrocious lines right now. As you are alluding to, Stone keeps giving Navarro credit for his framing work.

Jackson can hit 0 for all I care(I might be exaggerating) as just having him in center and allowing Adam to play right has made this team a whole lot better.

If he does, he should send KW and Laroche a portion of the award. Laroche retiring fired this bunch up I like it. Hell, even RV is actually calling guys out in the media a bit. I like this new attitude from everyone, let'er rip no more eeeore sad donkey s***. When the inevitable slump happens, I feel they have the leadership and talent to pull out of it.

 

This bunch is impressing me. Right now, they look a lot like an elite pitching, good fielding, mediocre hitting team -- those usually do well in the playoffs. Just gotta get there. The improved defense is a thing of beauty we knew the pitching was gonna be good regardless.

It's incredibe how well Adam has been positioned in RF (kudos to the metrics / scouting team) and has he missed a jump on a ball all year? It's not exactly the easiest thing to go from a mediocre CF to an Elite RF in one offseason. We'll see if he can keep it up but so far wow. He's made ever play and then some. A lot of the balls over his head he's made routine plays on that Avi would have been diving and missing.

Sox defense is elite so far. Frazier, Eaton, Lawrie and (believe it or not!) Abreu have all looked like like elite defenders. Eaton and Lawrie particularly. With Saladino in the rest of the defensive unit is pretty damn good as well.

Melky has played a solid LF too so far.

AJax in CF has been a godsend for Adam and moving to RF. Eatons been fantastic over there.

Melky sporting a cool .8 fWAR and a wRC+ of 160. It would be nice to get a 3 WAR season out of him after that s*** show last year.
