I don't remember that. I do remember him barking about Desmond after Cespedes went to the Mets. That was certainly way before June.

Slam her would be icing on the cake

Coop came out which means the count will start 2-0 or he will hit a rocket.

Benetti is insufferable during garbage time like this.

I'd rather watch the M&M jacket pitch

Did our scouts watch Shields at all?

Nobody from Soxtalk scouted him, and many of us were able to predict that he would struggle in a hitter's park in the AL.

To be fair, so would just about anyone.

Lmao you were right

Dodgerd a bullet. A grand slam would've been icing on the cake.

What a shutdown inning from Big Game.

So someone will claim Shields off waivers later this season right?

The dream currently is that we can trade him off eating some of the salary we owe him while Padres also pay him over half.

But he didn't want them to give up the draft pick

Rick Hahn would never give up that draft pick because it would have made him look like more of a jack--- for the way the Samardzija deal worked out for the White Sox.

And it would have only deferred that draft pick for another yet anyway, unless they change things with the CBA in the middle of this year, which will be difficult to do in the middle of June/July trading season.

Remember Ray Durham for Jon Adkins? We were supposedly trading Ray because there was this idea he wouldn't get any compensation so better to get SOMETHING than nothing (Adkins' ERA was something like 7 in AAA at the time of that brilliant deal.)

Getting rid of Ventura does nothing, if we don't also jettison Mr. "Coop can fix 'em".....

Around the fence OF can look real silly, especially if they aren't so good out there to begin with.

Looking silly and not making plays are two different things. I don't think that an above-average RF would've caught that ball.

Why would any team claim him on waivers when the White Sox are stuck with him?

All they have to do is let the 10 day claim period pass and then low ball the Sox with an offer...leaving an uncomfortable decision of bringing him back to the Sox or letting him go, as both would have negative consequences.

I wonder if the Sox scouting dept bothered to review Shields' velo metrics over the past few years. About 3 seconds on fangraphs will show that he's lost 3 mph, just since 2014. Do the Sox even care about that kind if thing? Do they even know that kind of info is available? You'd think so, but...

Most likely not unless they were willing to perhaps knock themselves out.

Yeah...that was funny.

Navarro did something

Sox can score runs just enough to lose.
