That’s funny. I think position players are a foundations. They are much more consistent and less prone to injuries. Pitching is a year by year phenomenon. 2 years ago it seemed the braves pitching staff was loaded. Now they’ve had to support that while they have the number 1 offense. One is gonna stick around to build on imo.

The thing will be Coby was a scoring point guard with little playmaking (until this year) and Pat will be a lengthy wing with strong defense and 3 pt shooting. Marvin Williams made quite a bit of money on that.

Carter isn't a big deal, but he was just as much of a disappearing act as Patrick Williams. Thing with williams is he's going to be expensive. If he increases his volume of 3s alone, he's gonna get paid.

I really hope this isn’t like that Mirotic hit streak a few years ago that ended up being completely inconsequential. The 3 pt shooting is probably too hot right now, but I sure hope the rest is here to stay for our sake.

With pitching talent I'm ok getting it, my one caveat is I do not want ones that are still in A ball. I'd like guys that have shown they can build up their innings to some degree and already developed something of a pitch in pro ball.

But Pat - man he looks great. I defended his defense earlier, because even when he was bad offensively his defense had become quite good. But I really, REALLY believe that Coby on the court with him has done something. You see Coby yell at guys to shoot after he gets them the ball. I think it also has just cleared his brain because he knows that if he does make a quick decision to pass it, even if it's the wrong one, it can now still come back to him.

I bring this up a lot but the one part about Lauri that I forgive the bulls about is his whole heart issues episode. It tanked a whole second half right as he was exploding for us and he wasn't the same. I didn't want to bank on that (esp after eddy curry). Turned out it just kinda went away. But we have seen with Wendell Carter in Orlando and Lauri, it can just take way longer. BUt Coby's playmaking has been what's set this all apart (and the 3s). He's become this fast-pace distributor and the whole team has responded. I saw some graphic today that we are like 2nd in total passes per game since Zach left.

Would be fun to take Kyle Harrison + the giants 2023 draft imo. As we know after I hallucinated Paul DeJong's height, I'm extremely intrigued at how tall of a team we could put together in a few years. I don't know if it makes us better, but there is no doubt that we would be taller. Bryce Eldridge would help a lot. Kyle Harrison? The good news, because I also thought he was 6'5 but just checked so I didn't do it again, is he is the same height as Dylan Cease so we are not getting shorter per se. And I just like Walker Martin ❤️

Just throwing out there that there is a strong possibility writers will say the white sox got a haul, and many on this board will say it was not a haul, and they will both be right and wrong in different ways, with none of it really mattering unless the players pan out.

This was why the Ohtani deal was so outrageous to me. I don’t care about the total money, the Mets can do that. The west coast has such an outrageous advantage for the Japanese market, and the dodgers especially, that to be able to structure a contract where you eliminate much of the financial restrictions in place for the cba gives a super advantage of geography advantages + big market revenue that are bad for the game. f*** these contracts and f*** LA. And f*** Japanese players for wanting their games televised in their home country at a reasonable hour.

I think it must be an old thread as it's missing Purdy (And Divito ehhh) I think there's definitely talent that gets missed for QB in later rounds, just weird to downgrade a QB class for the lack of later round talent. Like oh man there is no Desmond Ridder in this class.
