  2. Why? He was replacement level before the injury. He hasn't thrown a ball in anger in what, 15 months? There is zero reason to expect him to contribute anything this season, and not much optimism beyond it, unless somehow he starts throwing 94-95 instead of 90-91.
  3. They're 'roommates' like how my uncle has invited his 'roommate' to the last 20 years of family functions and sometimes they kiss each other. Just guys being dudes.
  4. nrockway changed their profile photo
  5. I've been one of his few supporters on here, super excited to see him move through the rehab and hopefully be on the big league team this year
  6. Zero chance this kid is called up. Fun story, but he's at least another 300 PA away in the high minors. If he continues to rake you bring him into spring training to get a better look at his everyday catching and go from there. I'd imagine Lee is the call for now, maybe we make a trade at the deadline depending on what's up with Teal. Best case I think it's probably a bad ankle sprain so 6-8 weeks. He'd be back for the playoff push but yea. Teal's season reminds me a bit of the Rose year he tore his ACL. We didn't have a lockout compressed schedule this season but like Rose Teal had a series of minor injuries in season and it just felt off the entire way. Hopefully Teal avoided a season ender.
  7. Two factoids today: July 21, 1997 – Enroute to a 3-0 win over the Tigers, Wilson Alvarez became the first Sox pitcher to ever strike out four hitters in a single inning. It happened in the seventh inning at Tiger Stadium. Alvarez struck out Tony Clark, Phil Nevin struck out but reached first base on a wild pitch, Melvin Nieves struck out and Alvarez finished the inning striking out Orlando Miller. Alvarez would strike out nine Tigers in a little over seven innings pitched. July 21, 2019 – It was a controversial decision in the minds of some, including national members of the media but long time White Sox outfielder/DH Harold Baines was voted into the Hall of Fame via the Veterans Committee. Baines was the overall number one pick in the 1977 draft by the White Sox and had made his way to the Major Leagues by 1980. He spent over 12 years with the franchise starting in right field before a knee injury moved him permanently to the DH role. He was a key member of the 1983 “Winning Ugly” White Sox who won the Western Division with 99 victories and represented the organization in four All-Star Games. He is among the all-time franchise leaders in games played, at bats, home runs, walks, runs scored, RBI’s, hits, extra base hits, total bases, doubles and 20+ home run seasons.
  8. For a guy that has done literally nothing on a competitive mound after a major injury and surgery, to rush him back in less than a spring training is malpractice.
  9. He’ll be at 5 innings by mid August, which theoretically puts him in the mix for major league starts if we do need him.
  10. A couple catchers are on this list: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trade-deadline-candidates-with-rising-stock
  11. Remember Jerry Krause was called "The Sleuth" for his secret scouting. He would sit up in stands with a hat on and keep a low profile. Poor Jerry, eating a hotdog with mustard stains on his shirt would always give him away.
  12. They would DFA Romo to open the spot.
  13. I am not saying don’t trade. I just think getting another starter is a way higher priority than catcher. We can’t go into a playoff series with only two reliable starters. Anthony Kay or Eric Fedde should not be starters in a 7 game series.
  14. thorpe is not anything to count on.
  15. Yeah, this. Usually their velocity and touch are still off, and they don't come back fully until the subsequent season.
  16. Yep. At some point you do need to trade.
  17. Today
  18. I feel like usually, the first season a guy come back from TJ Surgery isn't that good. Hopefully different case here.
  19. Boston Smith is not catching for the White Sox this season. He's in the nascent stages of catching. Please defer all questions to Boston Smith experts @Timmy U and @Autumn Dreamin . https://www.soxtalk.com/forums/topic/124709-boston-smith/
  20. Quin replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's either guy love or they're roommates.
  21. I just watched the highlights and it looked like Cleveland had an awesome game plan against him: spit on everything but the high 4 seam and then don’t miss it. Maybe it was missing some jump at the end, but they crushed his fastball.
  22. With the looming Teel news this was a fantastic little pickup during the day.
  23. If you get him into a spring training type ramp up schedule, that gets him ready about the first of September around roster expansion time.
  24. He definitely could be a legit SP option down the stretch. Very exciting.
  25. We can revisit the Quero/Romo crowd's opinions in the playoffs when they are both still really bad at the plate. That'll be a fun revisit. Can talk about 2027 then and the looming short season/no baseball.
  26. Timmy U replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
    He’s been hurt all year.
