  1. Today

  2. They're not going to pull Castillo from the rotation with all that money still due in 2027.
  3. Who could he have acquired and what prospect(s) would have been required?
  4. Did you expect anything else? Merkin is a shill for the team.
  5. Pretty telling that Merkin’s article covering today’s game had no mention of our starting pitching concerns. https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-lose-in-blowout-to-rangers
  6. Torrens and Acuna should both be starting for us here down the stretch. That solution is plain as day. Billy Beane would have seen it from a mile away and why Getz didn’t take this course of action should be a fireable offense.
  7. After an 0-3 night, Gonzalez's OPS drops to .583.
  8. That’s a great analogy. 😆 I could see a miracle 1% version where everything clicks but the most likely outcome is them getting 2020ed in 3.
  9. Question answered as far as I’m concerned. Pitching Options: Shane Smith Jose Urquidy Drew Thorpe Thorpe is really our only hope remaining IMO for the time being.
  10. Colson is one of the strangest young dudes I’ve seen. He is either on point and dangerous or is an automatic strikeout that looks like a shell. And it seems like he is really fragile in falling back into the “lost” category even when he finds it. Recent example: He clicked and for a 7 game stretch was hitting something like .330 / .385 / .560 and then BAM - after one at bat he seemed to completely lose all confidence in himself and his approach. I do think that the offense is feeling the weight of the team only having basically two reliable starters. It’s taxing not only the pen but also our hitters. Think of it - imagine knowing that to win 3 of 5 games, you’ll have to likely score 7+ runs and are likely to need to come from behind multiple times each game. There’s enough pressure as it is for a young club contending down the stretch as it is - add in a factor like this and I can see why they may be choking in big RISP spots. This is another reason why I think it is vital that they get the rotation stabilized during this upcoming stretch because in doing so, I think it will help ease the pressure on the rest of the team as a whole. It’s also why I’m pissed at Getz for not getting us another SP.
  11. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/08/24/chicago-white-sox-munetaka-murakami-colson-montgomery-2/ Rangers 11, White Sox 2: Luisangel Acuña pitched - Sox Ma...Between a starting pitcher who didn’t have it from the get-go and a lineup that fell silent after the third inning, tonight was the pessimist’s case against the White Sox. They’ve lost games by bigger
  12. I reached out to Jeff to see what kind of reaction he's been getting. Here's what he wrote back: "I have gotten resoundingly positive feedback. It's been wonderful! I've heard from people at The Score agreeing with the pipeline issue. Others say the show is doomed already. I certainly don't wish for that, but it might happen."
  13. Pretty simple scouting report: “Don’t swing.” Just gotta take care of business the next two games with Kay and Burke while hoping the Halos can bring one down. Then operation SWEEP THE CENTRAL resumes. We really need to get our rotation straightened out because it’s embarrassing to coin toss at best having a chance to be competitive in 3 of every 5 games. They should be rolling with Kay / Burke / Castillo / Fedde / Thorpe for the next five to see if that gives us more stability. Then next time through, depending on results, they’ll have to plug Martin in for Castillo or Thorpe. Getting the rotation back in order will be the key factor in if they’re able to complete the mission at hand and will also tell us if they’ll even be an actual threat in the playoffs or not. Of course, if good ol Getzy had gotten another starter - we wouldn’t be up against a wall with such limited options. Oh well… onward we go!
  14. Fegan with the recap: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2026/08/24/white-sox-jose-urquidy-will-venable-colson-montgomery-erick-fedde-noah-schultz-drew-thorpe-kyle-teel-caleb-bonemer-rikuu-nishida-chris-murphy-davis-martin
  15. I made the comment a few weeks ago, he's Adam Dunn with the ability to play shortstop.
  16. First off they may not even make the playoffs, second given the labor situation and JR's "fiscal philosophy" when it comes to pitching I wouldn't be shocked in the least if they didn't do a damned thing this off season, if there is even one, regarding the starting pitching situation.
  17. They have now won five in a row.
  18. 9-11 since the trade deadline. Sox are lucky the Guardians are 9-10 in the same stretch, but have just improved their play recently. I don’t think Bonemer would be any sort of savior but they are going to have to play better than this to hold off the Guardians.
  19. Vargas is the better player, but Mune brings the prestige
  20. The equivalent of Gordon Beckham in his first attempts at tv commentary/analysis…
  21. Vargas’ future is equally important, but it doesn’t by definition have to be decided in 2027.
  22. One thing's for sure in my mind, even if he's struggling, Venable has to stop wasting Castillo start days. Let him get lit up for 20 for all i care if it helps the bullpen the next few days. That, or stack the bullpen with nothing but starters.
  23. you might be right. I didn't mind their deadline, but in hindsight, for me at least, it's a deadline that says "We're the Dodgers or Phillies or Yankees", not "We're the White Sox". The White Sox haven't established they are a playoff team yet. They needed larger upgrades. With that stated, Getz may have just wanted to hold onto as many top guys as he could to get another year of "what do we have". Or, because he knew the lockout was coming and he was ordered by ownership to keep payroll as lean as possible while considering Mune was getting an extension.
  24. Still not sure how it's an advantage in any way to have control over Castillo Brazoban Bart and Doyle. Rentals would have been better with Bonemer and Cholowsky on the way. Could have turned B.Smith/M.Adams/Vielma into a better option than Castillo.
  25. Colson I dunno. He looks completely lost. I think the others should rebound though. They also need to figure out what to do with bases loaded. That's been embarrassing lately. It'll probably correct itself though.
