- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
https://www.southsidesox.com/chicago-white-sox-news/137848/white-sox-turn-to-milwaukees-matt-roffe-to-lead-amateur-scouting Roffe spent the past five seasons with Milwaukee, working his way through scouting operations before reaching his most recent position. The Brewers’ 2023 media guide listed him as their scouting operations coordinator. His résumé includes experience across several areas of baseball operations. Before returning to Milwaukee, Roffe worked as an analyst in player personnel and pro scouting for the Arizona Diamondbacks from November 2019 through October 2021. That followed a baseball operations internship with the Brewers in 2019 and a baseball research and development internship with the San Diego Padres in 2018. While attending college, he also interned in MLB’s Statcast and labor relations departments. Together, those stops give Roffe a background spanning research, technology and player evaluation. How he applies that experience to Chicago’s scouting department will be one of the more interesting parts of the eventual announcement. 2018 Wash University St Louis grad, so probably only 30-31 years old- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director

Yep, but I bet his sack numbers jump as a result. He already got paid but this is the best thing to happen to him for sure.- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
seems like a huge promotion, regardless of how his contract ended in Milwaukee...but hard to imagine someone in their scouting department being held in anything but the highest regard after their last couple of seasons and all their draft successes- World Series GameThread
Awwweee Yeaaaahhhhh- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
Rogers should be around $75-85 million, and would still constitute the biggest Sox contract ever...- 2026 NFL thread
Nevermind. I didn’t see that he signed this extension this past summer. I thought he was FA after this year. Good trade then. SORRY, I WAS WRONG, @Tony!!!- 2026 NFL thread
To echo others, I’m really excited they took a big swing. Mack was the easy choice, but it’s a temporary stop gap. Simmons changes the entire defense, and is now one of the three most important players on the team, and is locked up. You can glass half full and glass half empty things, but if the plan works, you’re talking about trading two first round picks that will land between 27-32. Are you going to draft a player that gives you the kind of production you are expecting out of Simmons with either of those picks? In the Bears current competitive window? It’s a high price to pay, but I applaud the Bears for taking a major swing at this, and recognizing they have a real shot to win this thing in the next two years. Time to go.- 2026 NFL thread
You’re right. That’s the best answer and what my Bears fan buddy said. I just hate giving up so much draft capital for 29/30 year old defensive players. I liked the Buckner trade, but this is the going rate for a top defensive players and the price of playing poker.- 2026 NFL thread
I would consider a major injury something going drastically wrong lol- 2026 NFL thread
very true.- 2026 NFL thread
It wasn't that long ago that just about every Bears fan thought this season was over. One major injury can change a lot of things.- 2026 NFL thread

Simmons also stays on the field too. And some armchair GMs wanted to trade this exact price for a broken down Crosby in the summer lol. Simmons is the best DT in the game. His numbers both analytically and actual are ridiculous. This is a legit game changing, blue chip player. I can tell the meatheads who have never or barely watched him play. Now get another rotational piece at DE and a DB or two (they need to replace Jaylon Johnson ASAP) and we are cooking.- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
At least Getz doesn't have that lawyer-speak way of totally bullshitting us like the last guy did.- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
Do we have unprecedented financial flexibility again??- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
As long as Jerry is owner, I expect that payroll flexibility to be spread among B-level free agents past their prime. Castillo is a hint of what to expect. (Replace "kids" with "Sox" below)- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
THE MONEY WILL BE SPENT!!!!!!- 2026 NFL thread
one thing that will be cool is the bears offense is so good at running lots of plays and staying on the field. I'm sure the titans offense was not. He's already a 3-down guy, but he's a 3 down guy that can go all out all game.- World Series GameThread
What's incredible is that they're within sight of the Red Sox infamous 86-year drought and the White Sox infamous 88-year drought. They'll be at 79 years heading into next season.- 2026 NFL thread
Well, i'm sure if Thuney retires we are going to feel pings of regret of some favorite college guard. It puts a ton of pressure in the later rounds of the draft. That's where the rams have excelled and Poles has not.- World Series GameThread
1) It was really a lousy World Series. I would imagine the TV ratings had to be dismal outside of Wisconsin. 2) I read that half of the stadium at the Trop last night were Milwaukee fans. That doesn't say much for the Rays fanbase. The Rays players could not have been that happy with that situation. It will be curious to see if the Rays draw any better at the new stadium in Tampa. - White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
