  2. Maybe some people don’t realize he’s not a 1B? The Pirates are going to play him on the left side of the infield which is where he spent most of his career. He can also play 2B and looked pretty good at 1B despite being new to the position. He doesn’t need to be Murakami for the bat to play up at other infield spots. Chase Meidroth is on pace for like a 2.8 win season by just being a league average hitter and providing quality 2B defense. Jacob may not be that level of defender at 2B, but he has almost hit as well as Chase despite adjusting to the majors and enduring a massive slump. If he can just be a slightly better hitter than Chase, he’s a very valuable player.
  3. I think Shirley said that there's a prep arm he really likes; maybe we'll see him (although those guys are high risk)
  4. vwrl vanguard etf vtsax two basic/foundational ones... not a huge fan of space x impacts across various indexes, though
  5. Definitely think this takes Lackey out of the mix for 1:1
  6. Ok… Pooh dipped in liquid poop placed inside of a paper bag that you light on fire. Compromise.
  7. Here's my final mock: https://www.futuresox.net/2026/07/10/2026-final-mlb-mock-draft/
  8. This is such a win win for me personally. I get to keep seeing Gonzo in PNC and the Sox hopefully turn 34 into a stud HS pitcher. I get the angst here from some from a value of picks standpoint....but most of you all s%*# on Jacob so hard the last last couple years you all sound silly. Gonzo is a guy and if they are willing to trade him....they are investing in Mune and Vargas long term...and that is better than any form of Gonzalez.
  9. They'll likely get 2-3 very intriguing players after 1-1, but that won't exactly restock a system that has fallen well back into the 20s. Or they can try to go over with 5-7 guys and spread out the pool more thinly.
  10. Here's my final mock: https://www.futuresox.net/2026/07/10/2026-final-mlb-mock-draft/
  11. Will the new guy just take Eiserts place or is McDougal ready?
  12. Who knows how we will leverage the pick, but I like the fact that for once our org is actually being progressive and valuing these sorts of selections. Past regimes only focused on the here and now and this move shows a long view. It isn’t a no brainer move by any means - gonzo is going to be a solid big leaguer, who happened to be stuck in a roster jam. If Sox move him down and keep going back and forth he could easily end up seeing his value go down so at least if they moved they are moving at a high (he couldn’t really make his value any better with Sox given limited opps he’d get while rest of roster is healthy). I’m curious if there is anything they see in this lefty and whether we can see them turn him into something. Stuff seems to play but boy he hasn’t produced down in minors. But I love having a chance at continuing to build and lean in with a pool now in excess of 20M. Gonzo will play so good move for Pirates too. Solid cost controlled player who can play around the field.
  13. I agree with you that the Pirates "won" the trade. I just think that Getz accomplished what he set out to do, and there's other paths than a Gonzo trade for a starting pitcher.
  14. I will say I’m intrigued by how much money they now have to spend in this draft. They will basically be able to restock the system in one day and I trust Shirley’s decisions. Tomorrow will be fun.
  15. Chicago White Sox 2nd Round Picks in the MLB June Amateu...Trayce Thompson/Ryan Sweeney Jeff Weaver and Bob Wickman the only successful second round picks...ofc not with the Sox, for the most part
  16. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited for what this means for the draft. I just think it feels like we overpaid a bit for this specific draft pick so we could have the highest bonus pool possible. And candidly, it’s hard for me to ignore the production history of guys taken in the Comp A round and just assume the best case scenario for us. I’m an optimistic guy by nature, but don’t like this trade on paper. I may feel differently tomorrow once I see what Shirley was able to accomplish though.
  17. I think a magic situation opened up with the Pirates looking for bullpen arms, and Konnor Griffin getting injured. Getz probably overpaid a bit, but if he can max out this draft class, it will have been worth it.
  18. I think the Pirates GM won that trade. Jacob had years of control At least it's kinda fun to be pissed or happy about trades again
  19. Mune is incredible. I’d like to see us announce a 5yr 150M+ extension for him over the all star break weekend.
  20. Jacob Gonzalez had zero future on this team. There is nowhere he could play, unless someone got injured. So it was absolutely the right move to trade him to clear a 40 man spot. The only question is whether we could have gotten more for him from a different team. I’m not so sure we could have, but nobody really knows for sure.
  21. Just fully disagree with you on the evaluation of the player and certainly don’t agree we had to trade him now because he was blocked.
