Yeah, wish this was like all the other fan forums where people hold hands, agreed and shared incredibly valuable and predictive information and only that. You posting this is like me telling someone they come off as abrasive online.

Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think the trade sucks, because of how injured and bad Robert has been the last two seasons. People are still thinking of him as the young player with potential rather than the 28 year old who has combined for 1.9 fWAR over the last two seasons. He sucks now, it is what it is.

There have been articles related to other teams on this topic.

I'm sure I'm one of the worst ones.

Give me something to criticize Getz for, and I'll do it. I'm not sure why I have to pretend that innocuous things are bad so I can be enraged.

Cedrick Mullins, Leody Taveras, Lane Thomas and JJ Bleday are the CFs who have been signed. Which one of those did the White Sox miss out on? 2026 Free Agent Tracker | RosterResource | FanGraphs Baseball

I still believe all of that, as evidenced by Getz holding onto Robert last TDL. I believe they wanted to trade him, but would have kept and played him if they couldn't get what they wanted. Acuña's been mentioned since last July, so maybe they finally decided to let him go. I'll admit that my opinions are fluid as things change.

In fairness, the Sox could have traded Robert for a 16 year old in the DSL and this statement would still hold true. It doesn’t mean that Acuna and Pauley are anything special though.
-
I think they’ll add someone cheaper
-
Do we know what was really offered? Not challenging just figure I missed it
-
Getz said the magic words that armchair GM's love . Trades !!
-
Bader and Robert are a wash and I assume Bader won’t cost $20M AAV so I’d rather have him over the next two seasons.
-
At the very least, the Sox KNOW what they have been offered in the past, and what they have been offered if they were willing to kick in cash. The Reds offer this winter, and the winter before this one, were significantly higher if the Sox kicked in some cash. Literally we could have bought superior prospects from them. But that is a bridge too far.

It's probably for a corner spot with Benintendi getting more DH reps. Personally would rather see Baldwin just play a spot.
-
You run the risk of getting even less than this. Rental bats bring back nothing at the deadline.
-
This is easy. Robert won’t be on the next good Sox team. Acuna and Pauley might be. It’s that simple for me. No brainer.
-
How is it insane? They'd be in the exact same position they're in anyway if he got hurt. Unless you're concerns about saving ownership $20M on the already lowest payroll in the game.
-
Master Bader ?
-
Signing Bader, the outcome to me would probably be similar to when they signed Pillar for defense and leadership and cut him loose before May because he isn’t hitting well. If you are gonna let the kids play then let them play, don’t force some good teams bench older player in there

I’m just gonna post this and leave it alone because I don’t want to sound like the board police or some kind of dickhead, but in my opinion the constant bickering and frankly childish posting is damaging what this place could be. Every now and then you’ll see someone create a long, well thought out post and it’s quickly buried and forgotten by the same arguing in circles every thread. It isn’t a great way to encourage traffic from potentially new and informed posters. Again, in my opinion. Anyways, we’re all cheering for the same team. Except caulfield, and he’s banned.

He's full of s%*# 💩
-
I just don’t get signing a veteran when you just said Acuna needs an open runway. I’d rather live with Acuna’s struggles than watch Bader add maybe 1 win if that. I would be much much much more open to a trade though to acquire a young controllable OF

*grudging upvote*

I would like Bader. He is a master.

I may be in the minority but I want nothing to do with Bader, Conforto, or Hays
