Vargas had a higher wRC+ than him last year and nearly the same fWAR. I get the prospect pedigree, but let’s not pretend this kid is some sure fire star because of his 2025 season. Given the players that we currently have, acquiring a RH hitting infielder with baggage who won’t come cheap seems like the worst move we could possibly make.

Good thing I went to bed at halftime.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread

Boston has to do something now right? Not a single MLB FA signed so far. If Philly nabs Bichette, then...? -
Caleb's inconsistency is tougher to deal with when you have only 3 plays to get 10 yards. But when you have 4 downs every time, there's a greater chance he hits a home run or does something crazy like that 4th and 8 throw. He's better in a gotta have it scenario.
-
Do you think it’s also because they play at a quicker tempo and/or opposition might be playing more soft coverage? Once I saw on that last drive how easy the first few completions were, I knew they’d score.

Need a RIGHT fielder -
It depends on how serious it is. If it's a bad rupture he's gonna be out for some of next year. Slater just ruptured his in August. It's not a easy to come back from.

This and Edward’s injury sucks. What is prognosis for patella tendon injury long term? Trapillo was really getting better and giving me hope we had solved LT.

I’m not sure I buy that. They love Hoerner and look how quickly they were to make Shaw a bench player. Hoerner put up a 6.2 bWAR and they are never going to get back his worth in a trade. -

I think it’s more likely Cubs keep him in semi-regular bench role or trade Hoerner and open up 2B for him. -

Whatever they can afford to give up. The guy is just turning 24 in March and put up a 3.1 bWAR in his rookie season. -

CW just owned the post-game interview. “We heard that the Packers wanted us, and they got us.”
-
If we can convince Caleb the Bears are down 14 points at the start of every game... 😆
-
I can’t wait until fans at the game start uploading videos to Reddit of these plays

I'm just in awe

That throw on 4th and 8 is why Caleb is special. I don't think there's another QB in the NFL that can make that play. Not even Mahomes.

The contrast between the 2 halves was so large (especially on defense), that it felt like I was watching a game of Madden and the casual gamer that was playing in the first half handed their controller to a pro Madden player in the 2nd half. I don't think I've ever seen an offense move the ball at will for an entire half just die in the 2nd half. They punted 4 times in a row and got 1 first down that entire time. Adding to the Madden analogies...I saw a post on Reddit saying Ben going for it on 4th down every time was like getting mad that you can't beat someone at Madden and going for it every time. Relatable.
