  1. Past hour

  2. HR rate spiked in July it looks like. 16 HR allowed all season, 7 in his last 3 starts.
  3. Haha, I forgot about that Big Game bs
  4. 2nd pct for extension made me laugh
  5. I havent seen much a mention of him. It still doesnt make sense to give him up. Castillo is a 33 year old on the decline who is now the highest paid Sox player in history and will take up 25% our payroll. I dont think I would have taken on this contract for 0 prospects
  6. Okay, but now he’s pitching on a team with a legitimate wizard. If anyone can fix him it’s Magic Mike Vasil.
  7. nope, were acting like Castillo blows and will be worse at the the rate
  8. I knew Castillo had struggled but the numbers are pretty bad — in that park! It could get pretty ugly in the Rate. Kinda reminds me of the Civale trade. Really acquiring a name more than performance. I would assume this means the Sox are holding on to all their top prospects, though for me Boston Smith was probably the line for me. I was willing to trade everyone below him on my list.
  9. This does feel a little bit like the Shields trade...just sayin'.
  10. He still has 98 in his back pocket and fastball averages 95.3. Stuff is still there. He has playoff experience and if they are acquiring they must think they can fix whatever ails him. At this point in a first place team I trust that Getz who has turned this around has an idea on what’s going on with Castillo more than Boston Smith, who no one knew about 4 months ago, is going to be the next Tatis jr
  11. So Boston Smith will be tearing the cover off of the ball in Seattle next season?
  12. A change in scenery can change things for the better or worse. The Sox got Kimbrel in 2021 from the Cubs and he sucked
  13. On Baseball Trade Values (take this with a grain of salt), Dominguez has -$10 mil surplus value and Castillo is at -$-17 mil. I'm not sure how much value Smith has, but it's probably close to $5-10 mil depending on how you value him. Unless we're getting some money back, we lost on this trade from a surplus value perspective.
  14. People acting like Boston Smith is the next Carlton Fisk.
  15. Worst case scenario this won't sink the Sox. It just doesn't do much for me. We'll see.
  16. He’s the Dominican James Shields.
  17. Us taking on all the salary wouldn't make a lot of sense.
  18. I’m not too worried about the 2028 vesting option…just no idea why we wanted to pay Castillo $25M or whatever next year and give up Boston Smith for that luxury. And yes, I get Dominguez was a bad contract that we’re dumping. It’s all very perplexing to me.
  19. My first reaction is that I don't hate it, most of the risk here is the money. You're more or less buying low. He's been pretty effective right up until this season. There's not an obvious dropoff with his stuff that explains the dropoff in productivity. So maybe the brain trust has an idea how to get him back on track.
  20. Yeah I don't know. On the surface this is trading for a guy who isn't a starter anymore. I sure hope they see something they can fix.
  21. Castillo good June bad July, four starts each. Glass half full - maybe due for good Aug.
  22. From peralta to castillo is wild. What a downgrade. A change of scenery out of Seattle and that park and pitching org to ours?
  23. So he's making $24 mil next year. You trade Dominguez's salary of $10 million and you're effectively paying him $14 million next year. If he's bad, he's not throwing 180 innings anyways, so the vesting option is whatever.
