I said at the time that I don't think these deals really help the team overall much. Maybe raise the floor, not so much the ceiling. Though, I may have been in denial and thought that was best case scenario.

It's funny how the guys who always scream that "Jerry Reinsdorf loves his rebuilds!! Haw-haw-haw" wanted Getz to trade away every prospect for iffy rentals, get knocked out in the first round, then start rebuilding again this off-season.

Pereira is hurt again - not his fault necessarily (hit on the hand), but still. I'm not going to bemoan the loss of a guy who can't stay healthy and has only been able to play in 38 of 130 games.

There's a certain irony to using "don't trust Coors production" against Doyle...and then citing Adell's stats immediately after they've been inflated by playing there. Adell went 6-14 at Coors and is otherwise 10-48 (.208 average) as a Guardian. Go back a tick further and he was hitting .167 before getting to play another one of the worst teams in baseball where he got 3 hits against a 7 ERA LHP in SF. That one game + a Coors series accounts for 9 of his 16 hits (and 2 of his 4 HR) for Cleveland. He's 7-42 since the deadline when not playing the NL's bottom 2 clubs. He doesn't play CF. He would be worse than Braden on defense (and prior to his Coors trip, offense too). He's a worse platoon corner bat than Grichuk. I would have been content to keep Adams and Pereira personally, but of all the reasons to dislike the Doyle trade, not getting Adell instead is not one that makes sense to me.

My condolences to whoever it is. But God, please be Acuna or another bench guy at most.

I met Rose about a month ago at an event. The first thing I said to him was how incredible his tribute to Stacey King was. As an extremely amatuer announcer myself, I definitely have my favorites and take things from them, but Stacey's love of the game was so infectous. He genuninely loved the game, the Bulls, and his dudes.

Twitter says the Riku Nashida is with the team currently as someone is expected to go on a bereavement leave.

Outside of Derrick Rose, I don't think there's been a more Stacey King-flavored player on the Bulls than Caleb Wilson. Then you add Matas. He'd have loved calling this team so much.

He has a loooooong way to go, but if this dude ends up being something, this could be really, really bad.

Hawk was / is the best. My all time favorite announcer of any squad - followed closely 2nd by Stacey King / Johnny Red. Still can't believe we won't get to hear King call games anymore.

There was balance in the force with Hawk. You could tell when he was mad or frustrated. Sometimes he would just come out and say it, and hte other times he would do that quiet slow burn. But I do agree he wasn't going to lie to you in that he wouldn't say something he didn't believe.

Mason Adams shutting down the Sox offense for 6 scoreless in late September to help clinch the division for Cleveland is going to be painful.
