Yeah, you gotta figure out the dumpster fire of a pen, but this team looks a whole lot better with another front line starter and a middle of the other thumper.
-
Maybe that was it. I thought there was some point where we basically give them some rights in MLB. Ohtani didn't because he didn't have enough experience/age.

Sox the "front-runners" for Imai
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think you're wrong. Logically it would be like lightning striking twice under the same set of circumstances that allowed the Sox to get Murakami. I literally was going to start Imai thread on the last Imai posts I made when I read he wasnt getting offers but I posted in the Murakami thread instead. No one seemed to show much interest . Glad its gained some traction even if its just BS. I made the comment that if Ishbia was involved in some way it maybe could happen but that I didn't trust the WhitsoxDave source that said Getz called Justin Ishbia after the Mune signing. -
If the Sox sign Imai, they’re basically a .500 team. In that division, that would make you a contender. Let’s get it done!
-
I thought it was an age thing.
-
I thought there was something where the professional baseball leagues respected other leagues service time towards things like free agency? Maybe I am misremembering.
-
I believe whether prospect or international free agent, you need the 6 years service time unless the contract specifically states otherwise. Don’t quote me on it.
-
Yea. I'm not holding my breath on this. But if it happens, sweet.
-
So is Imai a true free agent, or a six years of control guy? I think with his age, he could do any MLB contract, and then hit free agency again, right? It is interesting to see the Sox looking at short contracts for guys whose prices are plummeting as a way of enticing them to Chicago. It really makes me think that Ishbia really is being more involved here and taking some chances on deals that could well be bargains in the long run. I also wonder if we are already starting to see some of that old fashioned collusion we usually see right before, and right after, a labor problem.
-
This would be awesome but I just can't imagine the Sox beating out Cubs, Phillies, Mets, or Red Sox. It made a little more sense with Murakami because of his red flags/bust potential. Someone tell me why I'm wrong.
-
Signing him would make me feel alot better about the rotation especially after reading Merkins Cannon article
-
I appreciate the positivity from you all BUT I'm not there yet. This is just a random rumor unless we do sign him. I don't believe any of the "white sox are interested" rumors because we have heard that many times only to see players/agents use this crap organization to try and raise the price for a player. I will let myself be flabbergasted if this really happens.
-
We just need a Merkin tweet confirming interest
-
I mean they were but I haven't seen their name mentioned in a long time
-
if this had just become a pop up signing i would believe it but now it feels like the Murakami thing is being used to make us a new leverage source. i feel like most rumors end up being stuff that actually had just fizzled out and then became a leak of a past talk
-
For sure, especially since they’re the overwhelming favorite IMO to get him
-
If we really are trying to win, it doesn't make sense to trade Robert for 30 cents on the dollar.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Couple of immediate takeaways on the positional side: I don’t love having three catchers on the roster. I get the conceptual reason, but I don’t think it’s all that beneficial in reality. If Teel or Quero were to get injured mid game while catching and we had to sacrifice the DH for one game then so be it. As such, I do think there is a real chance one of the catchers is moved before OD. Lee is out of options and I think he’s the most likely one to be moved, but we also know that the Sox have been listening on Quero. I don’t see how this roster can justify keeping both Sosa & Mead as they are highly redundant players. Sosa obviously is further along with the bat, has shown an ability to hit both LH & RH pitching, and technically played SS in the minors (and theoretically could play there in a pinch). Neither has options and Sosa clearly has zero chance of making it through waivers. My guess is Mead ends up getting traded or DFAed ahead of OD, but if you believe in his talent the more prudent move would be to cash in on Sosa and hope Mead can develop into a similar player next season. I really think we need to add another outfielder and ideally a LH one. I don’t believe that Benintendi should be the primary LF due to his terrible defense, but right now there is no one on the roster capable of dethroning him. There aren’t a ton of options in free agency, but Tauchman would make a ton of sense for us at the right price. Have him and Baldwin in the corners with Pereira as a weak-side platoon for Brooks and I can see a passable OF start to form until Braden is ready for a shot. This shifts Benintendi to a reserve role and part time DH and forces Hill to Charlotte. -
Looks like the Sox are trying again. I may buy mlb.com baby.
-
If we get him, it means Ishbia is basically doing the spending and we probably have a much more liberal budget than something south of 100m.
-
Well this has been a nice winter so far.
-
If anything watching Cubs fans on X cry has been a real pleasure
-
I think his kid needs another jersey!
-
What the hell is happening.

I’m thinking this is a ploy to get other teams to raise their bid, as the Sox making this work once allows them to be seen as a threat
