  1. Today

  2. 13th is essentially one game out of the playoffs. A lot better than the forecasted ratings for the Cubs and Padres. And talent wise, everyone had them 12th 11th 10th with the Guardians and Astros.
  3. The two sides are much more dug in on their issues right now than last time. I don’t see the early March end date of last time to be a good indicator. I think the earliest this lockout ends is April but probably will go much later than that. If one of the sides caves on the salary cap issue before then, I’ll be very surprised.
  4. Owners have already calculated labor cost certainly of a cap gets them each an additional $800 million boost in franchise variation... Is that a position the majority of baseball fans are going to be sympathetic towards? Maybe to the 20-22% of US households 50+ that have acculumulated net worths of $1-3 million over the last decade plus. Families under 35/40 or so are going to hate it...just like hearing there's going to be so much abundance due to AI in the future that you won't need to save or even work and you can pursue the best UBI version of yourself as a hobby lol. https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/EURONEXT-VWRL/?timeframe=120M For a decade, this ETF is close to doubling that ROI that "poor" MLB owners are getting. NFL and NBA owners both at 300-350% jumps in valuations. Greed is good???
  5. In the past, the neighborhoods (Bridgeport, Armour Square, Bronzeville) were always limited on what could be negotiated on the 35th and Shields site, because Reinsdorf had ultimate veto power. Jim Thomspon said so himself -- as he mentioned in his oral history, his plan was always to have mixed retail/housing on the old Sox Park site, but Reinsdorf had final say as the site's only tenant. And JR wanted parking revenues over development: https://johnowens711.substack.com/p/is-this-what-sox-park-was-supposed
  6. It ended March 10th last time and they missed no games
  7. The last one ended on 3/10 and they pushed back opening day. Greedy players won't allow it to end earlier. They don't care about fans who schedule vacations around spring training and opening day. Both sides have equal respect for the fans who make this possible. And those same fans just decided which side's s%*# smells better.
  8. Memorial Day weekend when the 60 game clauses in the national TV deals automatically kick in and the owners lose negotiating power regarding their desire to lock in new deals.
  9. Only reason I think it will be March 1st or so is because these greedy POS won't want the revenue loss of cancelled games. Doesn't matter how much it will screw over the players' schedules.
  10. He immediately makes everyone on defense better.
  11. I read he was still facing disciplinary actions from the NFL. Even if anyone would buy his story it really shows a serious misunderstanding of the optics. I would hope Green Bay fans would protest.
  12. I don't know if any player on the team benefits more than Sweat. Now please get Khalil Mack.
  13. The District Attorney probably trying to file this as evidence.
  14. That would be an interesting poll. I am thinking April 5th with loss of games.
  15. Fun fact: Gore was a high school teammate of Brooks Baldwin. Baldwin was his catcher
  16. The lockout will end on like March 1st and you're going to see a crazy run in the first few days, similar to when NBA FA opens I'd imagine. Some guys will be left hanging (and teams) and the Sox will have to be prepared for a billion scenarios. Not going to be easy, luckily we don't have any real core players to re sign, unless you think Fedde or Grich or Newsome is a core guy, I don't. I think Grich is going to get overpaid and go back to just being like a 1 WAR player. Fedde I'd welcome back, same with Newsome, but they aren't core guys.
  17. When the choice is siding with JR or the players, it's an easy choice. But, still they are both shitting on the fans.
  18. I don't even recognize my team anymore.
  19. Anyone outside Green Bay buying his explanation?

  21. I’m simply riding the vibes here, truth isn’t necessary
  22. Sox were 29th or 30th last year, so my grains of salt are massive.
  23. Staying healthy instead of blowing out their arms would be a great start.
  24. There's no other site as good as the proposed one. It's right near the old one, massive and not used currently. Finding a different site is easier said than done.
  25. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/billion-dollar-reason-mlb-team-103000194.html Still, the growth has paled in comparison with the way that team values have skyrocketed in the NFL (up 308% since 2016) and the NBA (352%) during the same decade, prompting a sense that baseball owners are leaving some money on the table. The average MLB team is also valued at seven times annual revenues, much lower than the average multiple for the NFL (13.4x), the NBA (13.1x), the NHL (8.9x) or MLS (8.9x), indicating that investors are less optimistic about future growth in baseball. If MLB teams could command a revenue multiple in line with their peers in hockey and soccer, it would translate to $800 million in additional value per franchise on average at 2025's revenue levels. Of course, a salary cap isn't the only reason that other leagues have been better investments than MLB. The NFL and the NBA, for instance, both generate billions more in centralized media rights revenue that is distributed among their franchises each year, whereas MLB teams are more dependent on local TV deals, which have become less dependable after the collapse of the country's largest regional sports network operator, Main Street Sports Group.
