  1. Past hour

  2. It's really a hard decision that Getz has to make. What happens the rest of the week against the Yankees and Rays will probably decide the situation. If they play well that would show they can stay with arguably the two best teams in the league, if they get beat up, lose say six of seven, that would probably tell Getz a lot as well. In that case I'd agree with you, no sense trading some of your better prospects in the vain hope of making a deep run in the post season, assuming you claimed a spot in the first place. Getz is going to earn his money with this call.
  3. Meadiocre no longer lol. Massive shift in one year value. Won the Vargas trade, equally lost the Mead situation in order to "protect" Benintendi. Or blame JR, I guess, too.
  4. I'm guessing pitchers like Martin and Burke are as well. Let's see if they can salvage a game Sunday before the Yankees come in with that pitching staff now healthy.
  5. I did not know they had that much time left. I could have sworn that Martin only had 2-3 years left and I had no idea about Burke.
  6. Sure, 3 days ago from rational logic...
  7. No idea what Boston is thinking. Getz, call them now!
  8. I think it's one year you can't trade them but I'm not sure.
  9. Trade for Lackey! (75-85% joking.) Do they still have that limitations about trading players in draft year after signing?
  10. Offense really needs to get their act together. I'm getting sick of this s%*#.
  11. Again for those who don't know at one time (1981) JR was against any type of labor impasse/work stoppage. When things got bad and baseball was in the process of losing two months of the 1981 season he was considered one of the "moderate six" owners and was actually quoted as saying the impasse was "stupid" (direct quote) and "we should settle it." (direct quote.) 13 years later he was willing to neuter his own teams chance to get to a World Series in a quest for a salary cap. How things change.
  12. Apparently, Early was rated Boston’s #3 prospect this year by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline and #52 / #56 respectively in the top 100.
  13. From Sox Machine's post game, I wouldn't expect to see C. Montgomery in the lineup Sunday: *Colson Montgomery has a sub-.700 OPS since missing the Braves series last month with lower back tightness, but the more immediate physical concern would be that he fouled another pitch off his right leg in the ninth, prompting a trainer visit. "It was just above where it got him the other day, so pretty sore," Venable said. "Obviously was able to finish that at-bat. He’ll get treatment and see where we’re at tomorrow."
  14. That’s right — Boston Smith.
  15. Wasn’t cash considerations.
  16. The Nationals just turned Boston Smith into a young starter to add to their rotation. Crazy.
  17. I accidentally posted reliever. It’s even worse. He’s a 24 year old lefty starter.
  18. No guarantee that we were ever gonna fix him...but boy do we need a right handed bat like him right now. Our lineup is so lefty dominant at the moment. We have like 2 good right handed hitters on this team right now.
  19. Ouch! Early starts. Sox sure could use that!
  20. Boy did Getz whiff on Mead. The Nationals just turned him into a 24 year old 1.6 WAR lefty starter. Epic fail. Oh well…
  21. Both through 2030...this is insanity.
  22. At least Boston Smith looks promising, I guess? Mead just fetched a controllable left handed starting pitcher that's had a pretty good year thus far.
  23. Today

  24. So, drop the shovel?
  25. They are ahead of any reasonable rebuild schedule. Enjoy being ahead. Digging a hole to fill a deeper hole just leaves two holes.
  26. They should and I almost guarantee they will. To what extent, we shall see. To suggest selling when you’re in first place is insane though. Are we White Flag fans or White Sox fans?
