We have hope, we got The Pope!
The Sox win the WS and all the players carry the Pope off the field.

And that's another Walk off special White Sox winner!
Going down memory lane I wonder if younger fans knew the White Sox played home games at County Stadium for a couple of seasons.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
I just read this article and conceptually adding Hagen & McDougal make sense. I’m just confused on how we add all three of those guys plus Fedde (potentially) from a tactical standpoint. In my mind, we have six relievers that are more or less roster locks in Taylor, Hicks, Dominguez, Hudson, Newcomb, & Murphy. I think Schweitzer is very much replaceable with one of McDougal or Smith. And Richards has been pretty solid as a mop-up guy and not sure if Fedde is even an upgrade (which is ok). Post-season roster wise, you can probably replace your long man with one of Smith or McDougal, although either guy would need some major league seasoning beforehand. Great ideas but hard to pull it all off. I do wonder if there is an ability to do some buying and selling here. Would they sell one of their LH relievers in a constrained market (and replace with Hagen) to help offset part of the prospect cost needed to add a controllable SP? It’s going to be interesting to see what Getz does here because I keep hearing we are going to see more teams doing both buying & selling this year due to how limited certain markets are.

To see Hicks out there in high leverage from where he was earlier in the season is amazing. Then yesterday Siranthony was out there in the 11th with the game on the line. Knock on wood, both these guys could be major parts of getting to the finish line with 1/3 of the season to go.

I don’t think Detmers is mediocre but the Angels are definitely going to be overpaid for his services soon.

We’ll start getting beefier rumors today though!

Sounds like the Cardinals will be sellers, so add May to the list of potential options for us. He won’t pitch again before the deadline.

White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
When this trade happened, it seemed like the thought was Hicks was the extra piece, along with salary, while Sandlin was the real target. While the jury is still out on Sandlin, Hicks has seemed to find success again. He has looked damn near unhittable since returning. The odd trade that looks to have worked out, just not in the way we thought. If Sandlin ends up being good, this could be a really good trade for the (White) Sox.

Less than 3 1/2 days from the deadline. For reference, here are how many trades were made on the deadline and the week leading up to it last year: July 31: 26 July 30: 12 July 29: 1 July 28: 3 July 27: 0 July 26: 2 July 25: 2 July 24: 1 Based on this, you can expect a couple trades today and tomorrow. On Sunday we should start seeing some real activity (last year there were some big ones) and then obviously the craziness will happen on Monday. Let’s hope for some rumors / leaks these next two days and maybe even a small trade, but we should all probably remain patient until Sunday for the real action.

If they acquire a starter Fedde to the bullpen too.

… and then use Schultz out of the bullpen in controlled situations. Give him reps with lots of time in between his innings to work on his command.

Torrens has 2+ years of control. He’d actually be a great pairing with Teel, but you won’t like the cost if you’re worried rental SPs. His defense is so fucking good and the catcher market is legit constrained, so hit cost will likely be much higher than most here would want to pay. A rental C makes more sense IMO.

IMO, we need two starters. One who can slot in between Burke & Martin and give you a respectable 1-2-3 for the playoffs. The other needs to be an upgrade over Fedde, who gives you more innings to protect the bullpen, and hopefully can be an alternative for a game 4 in the playoffs alongside Kay. To me, Ray is firmly in the latter camp. He’d help a ton down the stretch, but he doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence for the playoffs. It’s why I’ll keep screaming for adding both him & Detmers. I simply do not think Ray will cost all that much due to his salary, luxury tax impacts (which SFG eating money won’t help with), and peripherals that metric-oriented front offices won’t love.

I do. I think I have a few years on Mighty Mite. I went to several Cub games against Brooklyn. I saw all those guys. Jackie, Campy, Newk. Couple more. Junior Gillum? As you can imagine, there were a lot of black guys in the crowd. Not sitting together or anything organized, just many throughout the stands. And they were quiet. No overt cheering. But you know they were moved. And, I never saw any trouble brewing anywhere from anyone.

White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
He’s getting a 30.6% whiff rate on the 4 seamer, which is 54th overall in the MLB or roughly the 89th percentile. Being able to throw the 4 seamer at the top of the zone after pounding them with 100+ MPH sinkers give him a second major weapon on top of the sweeper. As @chw42 stated, between this and the arm angle change, there is reason to believe his production can mostly stick. Obviously I don’t expect him to carry a 0.00 ERA the rest of the way, but he looks like an actual dude out there now vs. a DFA candidate pre changes.

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
It’s like he is protecting the high part of the strike zone but he cannot get to the high part of the strike zone. All of his recent hits seem like sawed off gork shots between the infield and outfield. Not sure what he needs to do to get right

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
Of course we have all the answers for a professional hitter, but in my humble opinion he needs to relax and take his walks. Stop swinging at that low inside pitch and force the pitcher to throw a strike.

The bullpen has really flourished for a while now. Forget giving away a prospect for a reliever, A starter is still a need.
