I will note this much. Most years, the GIDP leaders are in the 25 to 30 range. For strike outs, that number is typically over 200. Contact is far from a one to one when it comes to GIDP. The end result of more contact is most often more outs, but only a small fraction of those would be double plays, but average.

2027 Rotation
We need about 300 starting pitching innings of at least a decent quality. I don't think we need to have a superstar at the front, though that makes the post season potentially harder. But we HAVE got to get more GOOD innings from the rotation, as it relieves a ton of pressure on the back end of the rotation as well as the bullpen is able to settle into more predictable roles and routines.

Definitely a bigger rally killer then a double play

🤔. I wonder why that was? For context, here is where we ranked in those categories in 2022. AL: Runs: 8th BB: 15th HBP: 4th GIDP: Tied for 4th Home Runs: 10th (our team leader had 17 home runs on a team that was built to hit home runs. ) K: 13th In fairness, Eloy would have cleared 30 had he been healthy. Still.... If people don't understand how ground balls are worse after reading that... I don't know what to tell you.

Give me Kaima Taira and Michael King.

I love Schriff Dawg and I question whether his treatment by fans and media is due to his skin color. He's the first person of color in the TV booth since DJ, who was also not well received and pushed to the radio booth. I could not stand that dork Benetti but fans seemed to love him. Odd.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Yeah, again, I am not sure what is expected here, other than some kind of royal reverence than isn't being paid to the right politicians. I know it isn't what they wanted, but the expectation seems to be that everyone had to sit and wait for these people to decide to allow them to do something, and then be happy with it, but that isn't way the private sector works. The Sox didn't get what they wanted, so they moved on to plan B. I have yet to hear where the City or State came back to them with a different plan, so here we are.

I think the biggest conundrum for this team is the middle infield log jam. Can Sam solve the outfield? Is his bat good enough to justify a chunk of starts at DH? Meidroth is a mainstay on this team but his spot is at 2B. Can he play SS? Seems like between Roch, Bonemer, or even an unlikely bounce back from Colson that Chase is destined to stay at 2B. How do you maximize the collection of Chase, Sam, Colson, Roch, Bonemer, and Carlson. Who stays and who goes? Who provides a ample trade return? Who provide clubhouse value? I'm providing more questions than answers but how Getz navigates these 6 players can make or break the rebuild.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Ald. Dowell vowed to use her aldermanic privilege to block approval of a White Sox stadium at the 78. If city officials are serious that the 78 is a dead end, why should they be shocked if they moved on to looking to build across the river, which happens to be in another ward? Does Ald. Lee have a plan to try to work with Amtrak to find an alternate location for their maintenance facility if residents really don't want it to be built in Bridgeport? Having people shouting down Amtrak officials and union reps when they speak at public hearings and city council meetings makes for very good performative politics, but is it going to make Amtrak (and their federal exemptions and eminent domain powers) go away? Amtrak doesn't want to stay at 14th St. and the Sox don't want to stay in Bridgeport. Does the city have a plan to address that?

Favorite Sox Player of the Hahn Rebuild Era?
He was awesome, and today all I remember about him is being a POS and getting knocked out by Jose Ramirez after trying to act like a tough guy. Very sad.

Off Season Catch All (Delete if not needed yet)?
We need an off season catch all! Just saw this on MLB shop. I can't justify the price but it really is a nice festive cap, fitted too. https://www.neweracap.com/products/chicago-white-sox-pumpkin-patch-59fifty-fitted

That's honestly probably not a bad thought, even though you were fully mocking the minority experience with the post, which is honestly really horrible.

All of the way down to the lack of pitching and the inability to turn out their own pitching to a large extent. We will see if they mimic their fear of being aggressive in acquring pitching.

2026 NFL thread
Ben being bad against divisional opponents is very odd. It could just be that the other coaches know his tendencies better, but you'd think in this day and age, any team can watch film and pick these things up. I don't really blame him too much for the 2 losses this year. One of them was in a monsoon and Caleb got hurt while he was running for the go-ahead TD. The other is Tyson Bagent being terrible. They probably make it a closer game with Keenum, but the QB didn't allow 3 deep balls over the top for TDs.

Nice. Was also Jason Benetti’s shining moment with us. “Thanks Cubs!”

I question whether Pham is being treated unfairly due to his ethnicity/skin color. Surely, the media has better things to write about rather than target a part-time player for some off the field stuff. Certainly, other (white) players have done similar or even more unforgivable things than what Pham is being called out for.

I found it interesting just how similar he is to Luke Keaschall. They're like the same player except on opposite sides of the plate (and field). I honestly think Sam just needs to DH and he can spot start in the OF or 2B to give regulars a breather. His offensive value and base running are good enough that he should still be around a league average DH without hurting you too badly on defense.

Which is where Fuller came from. Long term I just do not like their hitting philosophy.

I'm not going to lie, the parallels to the Orioles recent stretch up and down does scare me.

I would argue this was much more than a 7 game stretch when it comes to guys like Colson and Mune. That is severely underplaying the disaster that was their second half. Nothing about the playoffs was misrepresentative of what we saw a lot of in the rest of this season.

Yet his month in Chicago was bad enough to get a full write up and mention in a season ending article.
