Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
But again, the "risk" is that Jerry or the org as a whole has to pay him next year too. That's it. We aren't giving up top projected talent. And he's had a consistent career of being aces with this year being a decided down year. There are countless players that have down year in the middle of a strong career. Hell, we tried to run Konerko out of town at one point. I would rather take on the risk of this year and next year's contract if it only means money. Yes, I'm assuming Ishbia is making more financial decisions here and it isn't all how Jerry has always worked, but one of these moves has to signal the transition to taking a risk on contracts rather than selling all of our prospects.

I wish we could trade for the pitching leprechaun....that sounds like fun.

And yet he's made it work all season.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I do know there was chatter about Castillo being increasingly uncomfortable with his changing role/routine in Seattle as they played around with a 6 man rotation and throwing him out of the pen, so maybe there's a change of scenery benefit from that perspective at least.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Because he was drafted by the Braves ( I think ) a few years ago… if I recall correctly.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Moving Schultz would be insanely bad.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
no.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
It's my understanding that when there's a new agreement, the White Sox will be significantly under the salary cap floor. Along with many current players getting raises, Castillo $ might be needed as well at least in the short term. Just sayin...- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Schweitzer is striking out less than 4.5 batters per nine. The results have been good, but they aren’t going to last without a material increase in his K rate.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Yeah, much better to hear JR for the last 45+ years, minus an aberration. Am I right?- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
6. The White SoxThey are trying to become the first team ever to make the postseason after three straight 100-loss seasons. Chicago has a dynamic offensive team, but by now it’s obvious the Sox need pitching and experience. I would target a veteran catcher, even after they are taking a flier on Eric Haase. The White Sox’ offense and ABS decision making from behind the plate have been awful.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
The overreactions both on here and Twitter are insane and I am the king of overreactions here. The Sox gave up nothing in this trade besides Smith. The vast majority of this fanbase wanted Dominguez gone for awhile now. Castillo isn’t what he once was, but he clearly fills a need here and sending Dominguez’s contact the other way evens out the money a bit. They still need another starter. But I think the people saying the Sox got fleeced are crazy.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Castillo is basically Fedde that throws harder away from Seattle.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
This is pretty much where I’ve landed so far.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I’ll hold back judgement to see what other moves they make. If they get a legit 1 or 2 and Castillo becomes our 4 or 5 starter depending on where you rank him and Kay with Fedde being your long reliever then I’ll be fine with it- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
This year because of Seattle’s starting pitches riches. In his previous 7 years prior he has always been an innings eater with a sub 4 ERA and the metrics on his fastball have been improving in the last month.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Better get used to it. There have been numerous times over the past 40+ years I've been sick of hearing Reinsdorf's name so it evens out.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Great we had money spend…just mind boggling this is what we decided to blow our load on.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Ishbia ...fvk that guy. Sick of hearing his name.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Long-term rental lol 1 1/2+ years- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I am not a fan of this move. Nothing do with what the Sox gave up, I just hate the idea of trading for a guy who isn't all that much better than Fedde or Kay, and yet makes way more not only for this year, but next year and possibly 2028. Plus, 33 yr old pitchers rarely get better. Getz better not be done...- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Castillo is 33 years old and all metrics are going backwards but velocity. Even if he’s somehow “fixed”, this is one of our big SP additions for next year. Getting rid of Dominguez’s $10M contract doesn’t make that worth it. Boston is simply the cherry on top of a perplexing trade. I hope I’m wrong, but this reeks of a GM first time buying and being raked over the coals.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Seriously doubt this. My concern is Castillo is 33 and the Sox are now on the hook for additional years. Maybe it won't matter if Ishbia takes over sooner rather than later. - Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
