Let's look at the bright side - the Sox are going to have an absolute STAR in Caleb Bonemer
The first two predictions there were WILDLY off base...although you were right about Davis Martin for two months. But BOLD predictions were meant to be hyperbolic on purpose. That wasn't the "regular" predictions thread. Like saying Mune would hit 50-60 homers or Braden would win RoY...Sean Burke and Vargas would get Cy Young and MVP votes, etc.

Longer....won't come anywhere close to 100 games lost.

But it might change the opinion of fans being equally on the side of the owners coming into this season...and put more pressure on ownership groups in OAK Cincy Pitt KC COL Baltimore Minnesota LAA, Miami, etc., to be more competitive without getting bailed out by a new collective bargaining agreement.

Longer season than 2020 or shorter? Or no MLB in 2027? Thoughts?

It's not going to change the owners' stance one bit. It'll all be a matter of who blinks first when games start getting cancelled....and that might be a while, too.

Here's me saying they'd be 13-18 coming out of April. They were 14-17. My bad.

Haha the jokes on you Jerry we are just going to suck instead! To be fair, Jerry didn't much take his own advice over the last decade by your "standard" also only finishing 2nd twice in 14 years. They did get last 3 times and 4th 6 times though.

He kind of disappeared at that time...except for a few pro Getz diatribes in between games. https://sodomojo.com/luis-castillo-s-new-white-sox-nightmare-shows-mariners-2026-could-have-been-worse Instead, the Mariners managed to unload Castillo and his remaining contract, which includes $22.75 million next season and a potential $25 million vesting option in 2025. It still boggles the mind that the White Sox agreed to take on his entire salary, but even more so that they also sent Seranthony Domínguez, Boston Smith and Nolan Jones to Seattle. Under any other circumstances, you would be calling 911 to report the M's for grand theft.

I just want to know if WestEddy also predicted that the Sox would blow both the division and the ALDS to the Guardians when both were theirs for the taking. Then he is a real prognosticator.

2027 Rotation
Been beating the King drum for a while. Not a lot of innings on that arm either. And 31 so not like he’s going to sign a crazy like 7+ year deal. Also was previously offered QO so can’t be offered again.

Why would anybody predict wins before Spring Training even started? Go look at the predictions thread. Your panic is typical of somebody who knows they're wrongy wrong.

And 2022-23-24-25? Nobody (originally) predicted 78 but Fegan. Nobody. Where is this supposed 82 prediction? 6-8 weeks into the season? Shouldn't the White Sox PR office have offered a job for your unbridled enthusiasm and prescience?

You railed on that I didn't predict 84 wins when I predicted 75+, 78 and 82. Maybe you should take your "make sense" meds.

Well, Samson sure didn't take it as life advice, as he only finished 2nd twice in 14 seasons. He finished lower all the rest. Maybe Reinsdorf didn't give him the primo advice of "always win", because it was free advice.

Which is how you end up with a collective .199 BA and all those whiffs in the four divisional series.

Aren't you going to be right 25-33% of the time hyping every Sox prospect that comes down the pipeline? Not unlike WestEddy being overly optimistic coming into every season. If Ron883 actually scouted all these players in person and wrote up comprehensive reports on them in advance...otherwise "lay people" are merely guessing. Like Cali with Outman then Pages (50% right) or the debate about Lucas Giolito after his rough initial season back in the day.

2027 Offense
To be honest, the size of the R&D department won't even be the most important thing in the coming years. It's going to be more and more about how well your R&D department can utilize AI to crunch the numbers, find patterns, and come up with new ways to think about the game more efficiently. A lot of teams were trying to use AI to call pitches from the dugout. MLB outlawed that, but you can see where things are heading. Players all have tendencies and it's much harder for people to see the patterns over a course of a guy's entire career than it is for some AI model to do it. I'm not sure what teams already have, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see teams with models that can suggest pitch sequences based on a pitcher/batter strengths weaknesses and not just is he good against a cutter, but things like, how well does this guy's swing cover a cutter in this location with this kind of pitch shape? With how much raw and accurate data is out there with Statcast, the possibilities really are endless.

Definitely not the most recent, but the award winner for five straight years of failure.
