8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
This is incoherent. Liptak has one narrative that isn't correct. The end.

Sorry, that's pretty dumb.

And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
If you keep talking smack like that, I’m going to sick my other online buddy @ron883 on you.

And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
Shut the f*** up.

It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.
Exactly. You don’t pay a premium for additional year(s) of control for bad players in a playoff run. Grab cheaper rentals that are currently performing well and then sign better players for future seasons when there is a much larger pool of players to choose from in free agency. But the Sox are still cheap under Jerry, so this is what happens…

They are still waiver-wire talents. Trading for them is highly questionable.

Actually excited about this. His stuff is nowhere near as good as Hagen’s outside of his changeup, but he hasn’t walked guys at all in the minors. Crossing my fingers.

As always reading game threads after a win is hilarious. Go Sox. They’re winning the division and getting the 2 seed. Will managed a great game tonight.- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
That’s ok. Thorpe is next. This is why you spend all the money and time with these guys. Now, sink or swim, and don’t stress about tossing them in- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
It won’t. You can get away with that in AAA, not in the show.- It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.
What’s the expression. Don’t confuse activity with progress. Something like that. Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don’t make. There’s another.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
This is a half truth. The Sox dumped a total of $12 million in salary for this year and next year combined by sending Dominguez to the Mariners in the trade. While that wasn’t a bad thing, it means Castillo is only costing the Sox $30 million for the rest of this season and all of next season, and he’s only under contract for one more season. Do you truly think that Jerry would approve Getz signing a younger starter for multiple years at $25+ million per year via free agency in the upcoming offseason? If you do, you’re kidding yourself. There’s a reason they wasted $30 million on this bum starter nearing retirement. That’s cheap compared to free agency. This is their “ace” acquisition for next season as well. Like @Lip Man 1 always says, “Penny wise, pound foolish”. This is how the White Sox operate. Nothing has changed under Jerry.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Because he sucks.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Sandlin will do better. Any of them will actually.- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
FYI Twins are currently playing short with a hurt Buxton and a third catcher they never play taking up 2 of their bench spots. Knowing MIN has limited PH/sub options might help explain some of Will's decisions with the pen and his own PHs- 8/28 Games
Bonemer with a walk off single (would have been a double)- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
Probably not. Maybe not. Sometimes you just gotta put the horses out there and let em run however.- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
As long as you ignore his BB compared to his IP. That ERA won’t last.- And that's a gutsy White Sox winner!!
Probably should give Beni some love too since he had an RBI single and and RBI double. He's pretty goodd at getting hits with RISP.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
yeah, there's no way in hell that, after committing $2.3B to a new ballpark for a team that has a history of struggling to draw fans that they'd turn around and plop another MLB team 90 miles away. An Orlando team would cannibalize the Rays TV market, too.- It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.
Exactly. Even if this is an off year for Castillo, he’s OLD and players decline. While this could simply be a down season, how could you assume that considering he is turning 34 at the end of this year? Why would you give up a solid prospect return and take on money for a starter that isn’t pitching better than a #5 starter in a playoff run? He gave up 6 years of cheap control over Mason Adams for a 5+ ERA starter. Mason Adams could end up being a bust but I’d put my money on him out-WAR’ing Castillo over the next 6 years, rather than Castillo until the end of next season. Just a flat-out awful trade, and it’s still questionable if it’s worse than the Doyle trade. Luckily, I’m wrong about all of this because Getz has never made a bad trade. 🤣- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Reinsdorf is often cheap. But that’s not the problem here. Fans want to sell the farm for ‘26. They are not going to be reasonable.- It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.
Define a “lot harder” though. If you mean trading low on talent, that’s never been a good productive idea despite how often it’s done. Especially in the long run. The Sox weren’t in great position to deal. And they may have lost a trade (so far) sacrificing a body to the fans and media.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Why in the f*** would they trade for a guy they thought they could work with, take on his salary, then dump him after 5 starts? Any owner would be colossally stupid to do that. People whose career in baseball consists of more than watching the TeeVee saw something in him. They're going to give him some ride to see what works and what doesn't. It's not because Reinsdorf's cheap. - 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
