I truly feel they keep sending Quero down because they want him to work on some things but every time he goes down something happens with the big club. At this point leave him with the team for the rest of year and ride it out and then work on things over summer

Altuve will be another interesting HoF case. On the Red Sox or Yankees, he probably gets in. But just barely.

Braden has power, but pounds the ball into the ground. A 59.5% GB rate isn’t going to work and many of us were concerned that they called him up when they did given this was a major issue in the minors as well. Zero excuse for him not being a 20+ HR guy eventually, but there is certainly work to do there. Antonacci looks like a guy who could eventually give you 15 HRs. Obviously you’d love more from LF, but the broader offensive production works. This is also a spot that Bonemer could eventually slot into and that would greatly improve the overall power of our OF. Peters is the tricky one. If he can be close to a league average bat, I don’t really care about the lack of HRs all that much given his defense. And to his credit, he does hit a ton of doubles which helps boost the ISO some. I try not to overreact to slumps & regression and think he’ll he fine eventually, but he’ll certainly need a platoon partner at minimum.

Agreed, but the the crunch will be due to Roch and Bonemer, not Peters.

Not an easy problem to address now less than fifty games out. (Hopefully not even Ron wants to rush Bonemer up to a corner outfield spot before the playoffs begin.) Who would have ever thought Keider Montero and Parker Messick would be the two best AL Central pitchers standing going into the second week of August? Strangest season in a good way (especially with the bar set so very low) since 2000.

Lackey!!! Ultimately, they have a bit of a mess on their hands with natural infielders Antonacci Bonemer Cholowsky and Carlson all trying to fit in somewhere... Trade them for pitching? The funny thing is that I couldn't do anything but pick out of a hat right now between Mune Vargas Colson in terms of "fair market value" extensions on all three of them. You could even make your Meidroth extension case right there...especially if the small market Brewers can reward Luis Lara and Pratt so early and so confidently. (Marketing departments across MLB would certainly argue on behalf of Murakami.)

I don’t think Antoncci’s future should be in LF so not a problem I’m really worried about. He should be the 2B next year…or is it crazy to think Sam could play CF? Either way, the roster crunch is coming where there aren’t going to be 3 starting spots for Sam, Meidroth and Peters.

Peak was clearly 2019-2023...obviously 2020 was the shortened Covid season. 2018 is the only anomaly. Currently at 3.0 fWAR on the season, which is a 4.3 win season pace. That fWAR ranks 2nd overall on the team behind Vargas and is the best in the AL amongst all 2B. His 121 wRC+ ranks 2nd overall amongst AL 2B. Yes, a lot of blue on his Statcast page, but don’t ignore that 87th percentile squared up rate. There is a reason this kid has 11 bombs already despite below average raw power. He’s an intelligent hitter who has two elite skills and still trying to find the appropriate trade-offs to optimize his output. He’s currently ranked in the 92nd percentile for OAA and is constantly making great plays out there. Him and Colson are absolutely fantastic at turning double plays. In the event of injury, the kid could slide over to SS and give you average defense there. He is heady player who does the small things on the field that make a big difference. The kid is also the heart & soul of the team. He plays the game with an intensity second only to Pyscho Sam. Every time there is a big moment he’s the first one out there to celebrate with his teammates. To say he brings the fire would be an understatement. His role in the clubhouse is a key part of this team exceeding expectations this year. Ultimately this kid is an absolute stud. Hands down Chase is my favorite player on this roster and last night’s clutch performance only cemented that for me. At this point, it’s not Meidroth who should be worried about Roch’s eventual arrival. IMO, he should be our starting 2B for the next five years and I could give two fucks if the haters disagree.

Right now our outfield is a mess, not much power, B. Mont and Peters have hit the skids, I thought we’d see more power from Braden. Grichuk isn’t an everyday player. Antonacci has been pretty good but LF isn’t his best position plus Venable insists on platooning him, he needs to be out there every game and at the top of the order. I’m not sure if Doyle is going to help that much.

Listening to the game testerday DJ was shocked how every Red Sox batter was able to foul off every high fastball, no matter how much velocity it had on it.

I agree on Quero, it’s too early to give up on him. I don’t know what went wrong with him this year and hopefully they can fix him.

Quero is 23 years old and could benefit from an offseason program and more development time in Charlotte. I’m ok with a Teel & Bart platoon to start the season with Edgar in AAA serving as the #3. Romo just can’t be part of the plan. I get the pitching staff must love throwing to him and he’s probably a clubhouse guy, but the dude can’t hit a lick and isn’t elite behind the plate.

Next year with a healthy Teel and Bart we should never see Romo again in a White Sox uniform, I guess we have to keep Quero as an insurance policy down in Charlotte.

That was a nail biter, playoff atmosphere ball game. I am proud of the fight the Sox put up, I love this team.

To me, it's more that the Sox pitching isn't great and it's gotten smacked around by good offensive teams. Sox also have a stark home vs road split, and they're offense is 10 wRC+ points better at home than on the road. We wouldn't call them cheaters though, but teams who cheat tend to do so in their own ballpark. The Red Sox have the opposite split, they've been a much better offense on the road than at home. I'm skeptical that some team has an elaborate road cheating scheme.

Are the White Sox cheating?!?! They were projected to win 64 games and they're on pace to win in the mid 80's with a plus plus offense!!

Apparently so is every other team the Red Sox have played for the last 36 games.

Whatever they are doing and unfortunately because I hate anything Boston it has to be one of the most amazing turnarounds I’ve ever seen going from 14 games under .500 to 12 over in a relatively short time. We had the misfortune of playing the Red Sox 6 games while they are on an historic hot as hell run, too bad we didn’t play them in late April and May.

If Teel had been healthy all year it probably would have made quite a difference. Teel and Bart should be a pretty good tandem next year providing Teel’s injuries don’t have a lasting effect on him, being young, he should be OK.
