Official NBA 25-26 Thread

Me and my 5 posts here has long been known as overly optimistic, but even I kinda struggle to see the vision here. (For the new posters, I've been on this board for probably close to 20 years) They've set themselves up to be real players in free agency buttttt, free agency next year is super mid....Unless they get lucky and overpay an RFA like Jalen Duren or I guess Walker Kessler. They're gonna need Matas to grow and show more consistency and Ivey to get back to the path he was on pre injury as well. Ayo-Simmons-Giddey-Matas-Duren/Kessler is ummm....interesting? That said, hopefully there's one last big trade left to make today. -

I wonder what the Dodgers would give up for Skubal ? -
Jerry is the last vestige of Sox fan purgatory

They're collecting all the French players

Now AKME is just making trades to make trades.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/pirates-sign-mike-clevinger-to-minor-league-deal.html Clevinger has signed a minor league deal NOT with the Sox.
-
It's one year and he is gone. Do the smart thing and rake another org and set yourself to win for the next five years. Hell, they probably still win the division, and there are plenty of other arms they can still sign.
-
Eh, I don't support letting the fans run the organization. As Stacey King tells us, if you're scared, get a dog.

The Tigers are situated to win now, nothing baller about trading today away for the future imo in that scenario. -
Well it's the difference in probably being projected at 90 wins and 85 so yea, you're taking the playoff odds preseason down from like 85% to 60% or so. It's not just letting him go, it would be basically punting a contention year and in video games that works fine, but nobody ever does it IRL to any success.
-
Does it really matter if they are disgusted with it now or in the offseason when they let him go for just a QO? They are going to be mad reggardless.
-
That is definitely a good way to look at it. Would depend on the offers with inly 1 year of control.
-
Agree, but Detroit fans are already pretty disgusted with the situation, if it was OOTP sure but I could see an ugly backlash. I'm close with a bunch of Tigers fans IRL, they are all disgusted at the Illitch kid's running of the finances.

Sox swing and a miss with black history month graphic

this organization has to have that consistency of suck in every dept. I think they will correct this oversight since it is called month and not day -
Honestly the baller thing to do would be to trade Skubal now and cut your losses, but grab someone's top 5 to do it. Absolutely reload. Take a hit today to own the AL Central in the future.
-
Exactly. If they are in it they hold, offer him the QO and get the comp pick. If not, he gawn.
-
They just burned that bridge and pissed on the ashes with their action through the arb cycle.
-
Depends on where they are in the standings at the teade deadline then.
-
If he pitches like himself this year, the Tigers will get 3 to 4 guys, including a Frontline one if they choose to move him. Pitching is always insane at the deadline.
-
I hope they resign him. It's bad for baseball when teams can't keep their elite players.
-
They're trying to make the playoffs this year and probably will. He's a free agent after this year, and if they keep him past August 3, they won't have the opportunity to trade him.
-
Because they aren't going to pay him and they want to get something in return? Valdez may be the replacement.
-
And play in one of shittier divisions in baseball
-
Yes.
