  2. The TImes of India? Weren't you just s%*# talking Caulfield's sources?
  3. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/mlb/news/mlb-trade-rumors-white-sox-eye-power-upgrade-in-munetaka-murakami-as-experts-predict-bo-bichette-2b-transition/amp_articleshow/126060197.cms 👀
  4. I need to go back and find the press conference of Rick announcing TLR as the new manager. Looked like he was seething as he was announcing the news. 🤣
  5. I do think to some extent with as easy as Jerry and the McC's had it last time around with a stadium, they thought they could just pull the slot machine arm and a new stadium would fall out again. It might not be that this time around, so things might have to change for them too.
  6. Especially since we have Chris Getz on record during the Jerry/Kenny/Rick era saying he largely had the freedom to do as he wanted and hire who he wanted.
  7. @caulfield12 for new White Sox Director of Leadership and Culture!!!
  8. It isn't often that something is a fucking terrible idea in real time, and then in the long run it still turns out worse than you expected, but here we are. Hopefully the newest hire means Jerry is LESS involved in the day to day, but I feel like he is old man Jaws always lurking to strike and kill Sox fans joy and optimism.
  9. Apparently you too have an eye for developing criminal talent. Case closed.
  10. Sounded more like Kenny was being pushed out already, and was set on retiring soon anyway.
  11. As usual, I have no idea what this means, or how it relates to what you're responding to.
  12. Considering by all accounts he was the one who convinced the McCaskeys to open their checkbook on Ben Johnson, I'll give him alittle saving grace for now.
  13. Eye for talent is one half of it. Developing that talent and also finding players with that burning internal drive to be great...well, look what happened to Moncada Kopech Jimenez and Robert, Jr. I mean...I literally taught narco trafficantes' kids in Colombia, but also one student whose parents both attended Harvard and earned doctorates in opthamology, and their daughter also got in and excelled, too. The lines are blurry when money gets involved with education. Girls are forced by society there to grow up too quickly into young women, and the machisimo culture also dictated that beauty was prized over brains...that being too smart was actually a big negative to the majority of "prized" men. About half of my female students had multiple plastic surgerhe's already at ages 15-16-17. But at least they never had to make that choice to utilize their beauty in order to save their families financially, thank god. That was the saddest part of the Franco case...how much the mother manipulated her daughter to target famous athletes to provide a better lifestyle for herself. Afaik, she was also charged and held criminally responsible for her actions as well.
  14. We hired a guy from a winning organization? An organization who also does not spend (in FA) but puts their spending resources in their farm system and can help prospects develop their ass off? What is this?! Love the hire.
  15. Except those morons went to Stanford Northwestern/Kellogg Harvard Law and Michigan. Not morons...just not well suited to working together as an executive team and sharing decision making power when KW and Paddy still wanted to overrule Hahn on talent evaluation/trades.
  16. KW stopped caring, simply got acclimated to a comfortable executive lifestyle with all the perks (2005's long shelf life) and Hahn just never had the eye for talent. Rodriguez was the first to sign an eventual Brazilian major leaguer in Yan Gomes. That was at the same time the White Sox were going after Andre Rienzo and Anderson Gomes, middle of the Wilder scandal days when Jerry Krause was also scouting Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia.
  17. Everybody has always gone silent when I've posed the question. In interviews, do they tell the prospective boss that they've worked for a moron, so they're fated to make the same bad decisions the bad boss did?
  18. Oh for sure…he was leaking it everywhere when he was still in the role.
  19. Rick Hahn would even agree if you got him drunk enough to spill the beans.
  20. What’s funny is we now know with certainty that KW & Hahn hadn’t invested in the technology & analytics to have a successful player development function, yet many here seem to feel that’s all somehow Getz’s fault. We know the results from that function sucked during his tenure as its head…that is perfectly evident. And during that time I certainly blamed him for the poor results. But when seeing all the major infrastructure changes made since becoming GM, it’s easier to believe he was handcuffed by a pair of leaders above who have proven to be incompetent.
  21. Today
  22. Yeah, I don’t think scouting and signing a dude who would go on to be the consensus #1 prospect and all-star SS is the elephant in the room he thinks it is.
  23. I used to work with a guy named Carlos Rodriquez. We would always greet him by singing Viva Las Vegas but substituting his name for Viva Las Vegas.
  24. You realize as a long term teacher yourself you have certainly taught numerous criminals, including pedophiles. It's the law of large numbers over time.
