Surprise: Rosenbloom article bashes Sox/Renteria
There's no White Sox example of a big free agent signing since Albert Belle. But on the other side of town - Jon Lester and Jason Heyward both took less to sign with the Cubs, and neither of them were near home. Players do not always take the most money. Maybe that statement is closer to true for Boras clients.

Eloy/Kopech could join Sox in mid July
1) Giolito is not in the same category as these guys. He's a bit of a fading prospect. He's lost a lot of his stuff. Hopefully he can figure that put eventually, but in the meantime you bringing him up is only skewing this conversation. 2) No...and where are the examples of players being left in the minors an extra year over contractual control? Actually it might be happening with Vlad right now. So maybe I should ask, where are examples of that happening where it turned out to be in the best interests of the player's development? 3) I'm not saying to bring him up now. I'm just saying bring him up when he's ready. Though that one start that he got bombed skewed his numbers horribly, and I heard he might have been sick or coming out of being sick. He really has been great for the vast majority of his starts this season. 4) The Sox/State of Illinois made a horrible choice in building the new park on the south side, instead of in the western or northwestern burbs. They will always have attendance problems in that location, barring super teams. 5) I'm not saying to bring them up now. You keep putting words in our mouths. I'm saying to bring them up when they're ready. Whenever that is. And I don't have a specific timetable for when they should or must be ready. Nature will take it's course in that.

Eloy/Kopech could join Sox in mid July
Holding them back a few extra weeks is a bit different than for 2/3 of a season. I'm all for bringing them up when they are ready. But if that still has not come to Chicago by spring training next year, then yes, at that point I absolutely will be all for leaving them down for those extra couple of weeks.

Abreu- does he stay or go?
I think he stays, but you gotta keep him on shorter term deals due to his age. But we don't need every guy on the team to be 24 years old.

2018 MLB Draft
Yeah. As this draft has come down towards the end, it feels like that #4 pick is a lot better than #5. I'd be jacked with either Bohm or Madrigral. Now watch the Sox take Singer.

Pretty incredible Sox gate numbers from 2016
Interesting that 3 of the 4 bottom teams are teams that share large markets and they are the lesser team in those markets (in terms of popularity).

It's time to talk about the Sox young pitching
There's nothing wrong with filling a spot or two of the rotation with guys from free agency or trades. The biggest thing the Sox need to try to do is fill the top 2 spots of the rotation from within. It remains to be seen if that will come from these guys we have now. That's why I would be cool with it if they picked a SP with the #4 selection next month. If they do take a SP, and many of these guys do blossom as we hoped, then they have an awesome tradable asset if worse comes to worse. There's no downside to possibly having too much pitching.

Sox vs Cubs 1:20 NBCSN
It's weird how this team went from so enjoyable top watch in year 1 of the rebuild...to this in year 2 of the rebuild.

2018 MLB Draft
Obviously you don't over-react to one bad night. But IMO, in a system with few needs, SP is probably the biggest need. And that was already the case before last night. You have to expect/assume some busts or injuries will derail some of these guys. Another top notch SP prospect would be very ideal. I don't want Singer though.

5/11 - White Sox vs Cubs
Grrr...Fulmer sucks
- Eloy Jimenez

Eloy Jimenez
The Sox are going to need to gamble and offer some of these guys Sale/Quintana/Eaton type contracts. I doubt the Jimenez's or Moncada's will take them, but the pitchers very well might in fear of arm injuries. If you get a few to take them and get some cost certainty with that, that probably allows you to pay 1 or 2 of the others the big money when the time comes.

Eloy Jimenez
https://theathletic.com/349056/2018/05/10/how-is-the-eloy-jimenez-deal-working-out-for-the-white-sox-quite-well-thanks/ Article just posted to the Athletic, mostly on Eloy, but based off how the Q trade is working out so far. Among other things, Eloy says about Birmingham : He’s too good for Double-A, a level Jiménez says is not easy, but also “is not challenging me.”

5/9 Games
I'm not comfortable with messing with Eloy. He's our future more than anyone. Unless he gets to the point of being Schwarber or Delmonico bad in LF (and from what I understand, he's not even close to them), then I say just leave him there.
