  1. Almost makes one realize that spring training wins and losses are meaningless.
  2. Or maybe they see Canario as a AAAA outfielder who is out of options, and isn't a sure bet to hit in the bigs. Not every player the White Sox pass on is a sure fire Hall-of-Famer. It sure is fun to pretend, though.
  3. Baseball players understand how options and all work. It's fanciful to pretend that a 26 man roster is "the best 26 men available", when in fact, there's guys you don't want to lose because they're out of options, signed a major league deal, etc. If a rookie doesn't understand that, and decided he's going to give up because somebody else got an opportunity he thought should have been his, he probably would fail after the first bad strike call on him.
  4. *Nothing* in his profile? He OPSed .860 or above in 5 full minor league seasons. BA, MLB and BP had him as a top 40 prospect in the game. I get that he's had a rough go of it in 3 major league stints. We don't have to pretend that he never had any business walking onto a baseball field.
  5. SoxMachine podcast talking about what they saw in the first 3 games. They also touch upon the Ishbia news. Podcast: Early Observations of White Sox Spring Training
  6. He was a top 40 prospect, no options, he has to play somewhere. I'd say he has about 4 months to show he can hit.
  7. Jansen's strikeout rate dropped from "elite" to "very good" after his age 29 season. Closers get in for racking up saves. If Jansen sticks around for a couple more seasons, hits 500 saves he has a great argument for the HOF. Josh Hader is 2 seasons away from qualifying for the Hall of Fame, so if he's already stuck around "too long", then he's SOL.
  8. I'm not sure how that translates to "hanging on too long". Same with Jansen. They're both very effective relievers who are still getting paid.
  9. Hader's 30 years old. He had a bad 2 months in San Diego in 2022. His next 2 seasons were his normal fare.
  10. Casey Saucke. 2024 4th rounder, has always hit. Didn't look overmatched in his 99 PAs in high-A. He was 2 years younger than the competition at that point.
  11. You hit me with gap power
  12. Mason Adams is a guy, too.
  13. Law sees Sean Burke and Shane Smith as top 25 2025 impactful rookies (as well as teel and Meidroth): The 25 MLB rookies most likely to have an impact in 2025 regular season - The Athletic 9. Sean Burke, RHP, Chicago White Sox (Top 100 Rank: Just Missed) If Burke is healthy, he clearly belongs in Chicago’s Opening Day rotation, and he might be in the middle of it. His stuff is not the issue, with a mid-90s fastball up to 99, a plus curve, and an above-average slider/cutter hybrid; he’s just always hurt, throwing 252 total innings in three-plus years in the minors. The White Sox should start him if possible, because who knows how long he can go before he’s hurt again, and at least he’ll get a major-league salary while the White Sox get what could be one of their best starters.
  14. And really, I'd rather watch a blown save by Kimbrel than an immaculate inning by Clevenger.
  15. SoxMachine article: Lacking the funds for strikeout stuff, White Sox building a pitching staff around weak contact and weird deliveries
  16. Pallette and Taylor coming back strong make me feel better about Blake Larson's chances. Shane Smith's start today is important. There's a lot to root for and dream on in the pitching corps. I'm actually proud to be name-checked as the upper threshold of positivity, like, if I'm not rooting for a guy, he's got problems.
  17. It looks like Gilbert, Eder, Taylor and Carella did well today.
  18. That's a respectable 1-6 for Gilbert to run through.
  19. I don't know. Reinsdorf strikes me as "a man of his word". He's a tough negotiator, but I put him in a different category from the guy who is currently in a pissing match with Greenland. And they put on paper that control shifts in 5 years, or on Reinsdorf's demise.
  20. Not to be morbid, but there's a reason old people are considered feeble. A person could be in good health, catches the flu, and 5 days later, the whole world's changed.
  21. Thanks for the write up. I don't like the signing, I hope Clevenger injures himself quickly. I'd imagine this is a sop to the limited partner who parties with Clevenger. It has no effect on Getz's work on the organization. I'm out of town, and really don't want to argue with people who think it's funny to pretend that an abused woman is a liar, just because.
  22. You're kind of correct. I wouldn't care if they signed Bozo to play SS. It would probably be on a minor league deal. Clevenger's a POS, and I hate the signing. I won't post everyday that I hate Getz for signing him, but I don't like it. I also get tired of the a-holes who think it's funny to pretend Clevenger was "completely exonerated". He wasn't. I hope he tears his rotator cuff on his first throw, and that's the last we see of him.
  23. Canario's a LF. I don't think he's knocking Taylor off the roster. I think he'd take Fletcher's or Colas' place in the "next man up" queue.
