Maybe somebody needs to point out to Pedro that Vaughn, Benny and Maldy regularly give him at-bats that are "fucking flat", and he continues to write them onto the lineup card every day. Maybe he can find a surface in the dugout that is "fucking flat", and have those three ride that.

Dan Vogelbach has been traded for young bullpen arms on more than one occasion. There is a market for Gavin Sheets.

https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/1795126496949936366 Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan Gavin Sheets on how he perceived Pedro Grifol’s meaning of flat Sunday: “I’m not sure. I thought we ran into a pretty good pitcher with pretty good stuff.”

Grifol is a mealy-mouthed dunce with zero cred and no confidence. This is a weird turn, to lose the clubhouse over a rookie throwing Grifol's criticism back in his face. Grifol has no power. He has no card to play. He's already benching Lee way too much for the team's fortunes. I want to see these guys start getting pissed off. That's great that everyone likes each other. Weeks ago, when Trea Turner was tagging from 1st to 2nd on a flyout, up 8, in the middle of a streak where every other game was a no-hit threat for the White Sox - Turner should have been sat on his ass the next at-bat. First pitch. Nicky Lopez is patting guys on the ass who just hit a double off his pitcher. That kind of stunned me. I hate Mike Ditka, but like he used to say, these guys are taking food off your table. They're mocking you. They're putting you out of a job. Get fucking angry.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get the tweet to post here? Once they changed the address to x.com, I haven't been able to make it work. -

Over his career, Kopech walks 5 per 9, and gives up 1.5 HR per nine. He's actually touching 2 HR per 9 these last 2 seasons. I think Kopech is a strong candidate to keep doing what he's been doing his whole career. All front offices are infected with conceit. GMs look at a guy like Kopech, and think they can fix him. "Just move over 3 inches on the rubber." I'd be more than happy to take any package from any such team, so they can enjoy the 2 walk, 2 HR outings we've grown used to. I would try to extend Crochet this off-season, like, buy out the 2 arb years, maybe get 2 years of FA. Maybe hike him up to $6m/$10m. Pay him for the experience he lost. He would hit FA before his 30-year-old season, everybody's happy. If he rebuffs, trade him next TDL. We have an entire core at AA or higher. Our team will be competitive in that time frame. It would be nice to have a proven ace while Schultz and Grant Taylor are starting out their MLB careers.

You're implying that moving on from Maldonado, DeJong, Nicky Lopez, Soroka, and Eloy is "destruction"?

5.23 in the 8th, 1.50 in the 9th. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=kopecmi01&year=2024&t=p

That's probably the best you can hope for out of Maldonado. A 9-pitch strike out. Tire the pitcher, and no double play.

Jim Bowden put out a fluff trade candidates column for The Athletic. Besides breaking no more news than somebody who could just read Twitter, he's crafted this gem: Catchers: A contending team looking for a veteran backup catcher with a winning track record of calling pitches could make a move for Martín Maldonado, 37, though he’s in significant decline and provides zero offense. But a team seeking a mentor for a younger catcher might take a flier on him.

In ST, I thought there was a chance that Eloy would improve, but not impress enough to be traded to a contender, and the Sox would pick up his relatively cheap option for next season to see if the improvement progressed. At this point, I think he's just fried. He won't be here next year.

If Grifol just started Remillard in LF, we'd probably have a run by now. -

I always thought the win probability thing was dumb. Like, thanks for telling me during an 8-0 game with 2 outs in the 9th that the win probability is almost 100%. I could have never guessed. Hey, some dudes like porn. Others like equations. -
Whereas, Benintendi leads in pop-up times.

Life is a lot of good and bad.

Counterpoint: Iloy being out removes a .630 OPS bat from the lineup for more opportunity.

5/22 - 6:07pm - White Sox ( suck ) vs Toronto Maple Leafs

I don't really see how I'm disavowing it. Here's the statement I made, again: I then provided evidence of top 10 picks we seemed to have fumbled, and lower picks that are among our top prospects. If you're calling it coincidence, sure, I don't disagree. I think Getz might be a steadier influence on draft day than KW/Hahn were. We'll see. I also think Shirley's a better draft coordinator than Hostetler. It is pretty funny to see the way you, Quin, and that other guy just freak out over an 11 word sentence that really isn't saying much of anything. LOL. I'm actually impressed at how much of a threat you and Quin see me as in destroying your long crafted narratives. Every time I say something out of the box, you guys swarm like bees at the threat of somebody saying something provocative.
