  1. But all the dour-heads still mourn the exit of Marco Paddy. Strange how Getz is working to expand their reach, and everybody complains harder.
  2. Aldrin Batista is a legit prospect. Maximo Martinez could be. No need to make excuses for great moves. More of that, please.
  3. It's funny that people being light-hearted about the Sox makes you so desperately angry.
  4. SS2k5 was deeply saddened that Marco Paddy was let go despite the great job he had done for over a decade.
  5. They're all quite driven. Most of them want to become scientists when they grow up so they can find a cure for whatever makes "old stinky butt" so illogical and angry.
  6. And the first-graders asked if you were Stranger Danger.
  7. They did. And I showed them this string. They were profoundly surprised by the irony of nobody criticizing Cleveland having $2M unspent, and using it to move Myles Straw's contract, instead of taking a gamble on any player. It's very cute when 6-year-olds ask you if all of the negative Nellies (as they called them) were burner accounts for people in the Guardians' front office. They also voted overwhelmingly that you're "a stinky butt". Kids.
  8. You got a weird way of referring to yourself in the third person, no one.
  9. They could sign every man, woman and child in the DR for $10k each and not touch their international pool.
  10. A guy like Keller walks into a job, and he can't go back in time and shake a 13 year old's hand 3 years ago. Good thing the guy who was supposed to line up the signings for the 2024 period is gone.
  11. I agree. Also of note to the people screaming for the Sox to sign dudes in the last weeks of December with what's left in their allotment, all the known guys are signed. It's like we want them to scour the beaches for young guys throwing rocks in the water, and if somebody looks like a pitcher, give him $100k.
  12. Bad omen? I'd just think Cruz should think about progressing, or he may not get the requisite 6 years to fade that previous signings have gotten.
  13. This truly is the doldrums. The Sox Twitter feed I set up is all Bears' head coaching arguments.
  14. Every post-season has a couple of teams that are stacked. Padres, Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Phillies, Braves, Mets. Then you have the teams that put together a nice core, and coast for most of a decade - Astros, Cubs, Orioles, Guards, Nats, Brewers, Cardinals, Giants, D-backs, Twins, D-Rays Goodness, look. I've just rattled off about 2/3 of baseball. Then you get the weirdo teams that shoot up for a couple of years. Royals, tigers, White Sox, Blue Jays, A's. If that last bunch would just run their businesses better, you have 80% of baseball that are at least semi-competitive for most of the time. The Dodgers grind down their pitchers to a nub. That's why they need a rotation of 10 guys. You don't have to root for injuries. They're just going to happen. On top of it, guys like Betts, Freeman, Muncy - they're all on the wrong side of 30, and in a few years, they're going to be paying league average performers $30+M. Dynasties happen. It was fun pretending the Astros were the evil empire because they cheated. Or the Yankees. Or the Red Sox for their insufferable fans.
  15. With the way the Dodgers chew through pitchers, Kopech will start 6 games, get his next TJS, and they'll be trading for Martin Perez.
  16. Yeah, there was a time when it got tiresome watching the Cowboys and 49ers go to the Super Bowl regularly. Richard Dent even signed with the 49ers to win a ring. Teams built to win over a period of time isn't "bad" for their sport.

  18. I think he could have signed in the previous period, but that would have greatly truncated his time to evaluate suitors.
  19. He has to be signed to a minor league deal, which I believe is fairly bare-bones. If MLB catches wind of any side deals that escalate his salary, they could void his contract, make him a free agent, and sanction the Blue Jays.
  20. I would guess no.
