  1. Do you think there's a "gentleman's agreement", where you're checkmated (it's 4:55, you're looking at the "best offer", and your guy's a free agent/impossible option), and you make the trade, because that's cricket? It could be seen as a dick move to announce that you'll choke on the contract and get nothing rather than get played by another GM.
  2. I had that fine experience at Kaufmann stadium back in '19. My niece got tix upper tank, 1B side, Saturday afternoon. I think we left after 5 innings.
  3. He certainly seems to play the game of trading minor league depth for cash considerations when somebody like the Rays want Tristan Gray. Maybe Getz has a chip on his shoulder over last TDL, so he starts high and stays high. Can't say I mind that, as I'd rather not have 2 of this summer's acquisitions retire next May.
  4. Other GMs always complained about dealing with Andrew Friedman when he was GM of the Rays. He wasn't going to give guys away or make a trade just to say he did.

    DFA's?

These 6 guys would need Rule 5 protection over the winter. I could see them caring about Davitt, Adams, McDougal and Pallette. Schweitzer wasn't ready for AAA, so MLB could be a reach. Murphy, I think is mostly smoke and mirrors, pitches to contact at AA. Tyler Schweitzer Mason Adams Duncan Davitt Payton Pallette Tanner McDougal Shane Murphy
  6. That would be great to never have to read Clevenger's name again. It does seem like bringing him up is really a last resort. Beyond that, I would think Cannon, Martin and Perez could handle 50-70 more innings each in the duration.
  7. Immediately? I think Shane Smith is going to take a turn in the next 5 games. Perez is probably due back in a couple weeks. Maybe one of Smith or Burke goes to the pen, or they tandem them, 3 innings a piece, or something. I think they like Vasil and Alexander as long men.
  8. It's fun. I got heckled by one guy because of my Sox hat. This is probably about 15-20 years ago. I think the food was run of the mill, then. Can't really remember anything else that stood out. We were able to walk all around the stadium and sit anywhere, really.
  9. Is that on your computer? Can you rerun the game later on?
  10. You see they posted, but the post is hidden. When people reply to them, you see their text in the replies. When somebody ignored has a bunch of hidden posts on a page, I might click in to see if something's going on.
  11. Well, everyone sure took a victory lap on me last year when I said the bullpen was "lockdown", once, yourself included. So enjoy my victory lap. Maybe one day we'll meet and talk about our various victory laps taken here.
  12. I think this team, as situated on August 1, is probably a 70 win team. Meaning, if this group of guys started a season today, they'd win 70. I agree with you that it's not crazy that they could add 10 wins through a couple of additions, some of the players on this team progressing in their development, or some of the dreadful years regressing to the mean. The way the playoffs are set up now, a .500 team is technically "competitive" for the post-season. Last year's team played behind their Pythagorean by about 8 games. (I'm agreeing with you again.)
  13. Okay, so I'll take this as you admitting that 6 weeks of baseball doesn't actually equal 14 days. I really don't care what you have tolerance for. That's why I have you on ignore. I don't have tolerance for guys who will just misrepresent what I wrote, then call me names and scold me. Obviously, you think you're waaaaaayyyyy smarter than me, and everybody else here. I mean, you have your own proprietary algorhythms, or something. LOL. So just ignore my posts. I skip over yours, and the unfortunate time I click into one, I realize I'm not missing any in depth analysis. Again, I understand that it sucks when people think things without asking you, first. You have the last word. Make it count.
  14. "Pants get tighter"? Like we're all nursing stiffies because our baseball team is looking slightly more competent? It's like you're telling us something I've been saying any time I post. I think most of the current roster will be gone by the next time they're "competitive". My unreasonable, crazy elation is over the White Sox looking like they might not lose 100 games this year. Boy, am I loading up on playoff tickets. LOL. I'm still waiting for all the people who predicted this team to lose even more than in 2024 to get to the emergency room and have their own 2-year negativity priapism treated.
  15. You should probably take a look at the rosters of the Twins and Orioles. Two weeks of baseball? U funny. The White Sox are 17-17 since June 20. You're hard to take seriously because you regularly do things like that. Pretend that 6 weeks of baseball is actually 2. Tee-hee. Sneaky. You're mocking a post where I said I can see the Sox missing 100 losses. That would require them to play 23-30 the rest of the way. But I said ".500" in there, somewhere, so argue against that and post laughing emojis. Seriously, if you can't read, and need to regularly make up strawmen to dunk on, just ignore my posts. I'm sorry that people are being positive without your express written permission. Life sucks that way.
  16. There really wasn't a clear cut "ace" being dangled, though. Joe Ryan of the Twins was the only guy whose name I heard that seemed like a stud. Teams who needed starters filled in the back of their rotations, but I didn't get the sense that there was anyone outside of Ryan or Cease who were really being offered, and the Twins and Padres were probably asking a huge price for them. These are the starting pitchers who were traded. I don't think any of these guys are game 1 starters for their new teams. Dustin May Merrill Kelley Chris Paddack Michael Soroka Zack Littel Shane Bieber Charlie Morton Bailey Falter Nestor Cortez Jordan Montgomery Adrian Houser I get the notion that bullpens are important in the playoffs. I doubt that's why the Sox plugged Taylor into the back of their bullpen.
  17. We also play 10 games against virtual AAA teams (Twins (7), Orioles (3)), 24 against .500 or lower (Angels (3), Guardians (6), Royals (6), Braves (3), Rays (3), Nationals (3)). We have the 3rd hardest schedule after the All-Star break, but it suddenly doesn't look so tough. This team played .500 ball from June 20 on. I could see them missing 100 losses.
  18. It's the same 3 cranks. Nobody else had a problem.
  19. Then "we" isn't the proper pronoun to use. I do think it's funny when bro-dudes think they get to decide what other people get to be happy about.
  20. You don't seem to be celebrating.
  21. Nobody said it was. 1/3 of the season that's in the books. You're so angry that the Sox are doing well and people are hopeful, you can't even read.
  22. Here's what I wrote: "They're 17-17 since June 20. That's right around 1/3 of the season that's in the books." If you can't tell the difference between what I wrote and what you're saying, there's really not point in responding to you.
  23. They're 17-17 since June 20. That's right around 1/3 of the season that's in the books. 34 games isn't a small sample size anymore.
  24. They played a half game under .500 in July. They're a different team from the one that left spring training.
